Janet Jackson will bring Metamorphosis to Park Theater at Park MGM resort for 15 dates starting on May 17 and tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 2. According to today’s announcement, Jackson’s headlining residency at the Park MGM resort “peels back the layers of the immensely private life of Janet Jackson, sharing her transformation from a young girl with issues of self-esteem to global icon.” The show will also feature a special 30-year anniversary celebration of her fourth studio album Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, released in 1989. It’s the only album in the history of Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart to have seven singles place within the top five positions. More dates are expected to follow but the 15 dates for Metamorphosis going on sale this week are May 17, 18, 21, 22, 25 and 26; July 24, 26, 27 and 31; and August 2, 3, 7, 9 and 10. Jackson joins other new residents Aerosmith (starting April 6) and Lady Gaga, who just won an Academy Award on Sunday for Best Original Song, at Park Theater along with recurring headliners Cher and Bruno Mars. Britney Spears had planned her second Strip production at the 5,200-seat venue but postponed it in order to focus on her family when her father became sick. She's very entertaining to watch and puts on an amazing show.
