It wasn't as technically excellent as her last Oscars performance (the Sound of Music tribute was simply masterclass vocals) but this performance managed to touch a lot of people, including those who aren't Gaga fans, in a very memorable and positive way. The emotion of performing can be a more powerful weapon than endless perfect notes.

Agree I thought both were good, Bradley a little shaky in parts but he was nervous.  I think both were emotional, maybe realizing that this is the end of the ASIB era and the last time they would be singing together.  At the end when they look at each other and she smiles at him omg love it!!!

Let’s be real, this performance was never going to be about Gaga’s vocals. It was always meant to be about seeing Gaga and Bradley together one last time... and they executed it in the best possible way.

People can’t dislike the performance? I really didn’t think the Oscars night was as stellar as I was hoping for.

Bradley and her squeaked out a few of the notes and she was huffing and puffing throughout which really messed up the flow of the lyrics.

Was it the worst performance ever? No. Was it not her best? Yes and that’s ok 🤷🏻‍♂️

It just seems a bit much to have a negative opinion on this particular performance. You're allowed to not like it. But did you not consider how nervous they both must have been? Especially Bradley. I just think it's unfair to drag this performance without considering the reasons why it may have been flawed. I noticed the flaws but I personally think they make it even more special.

Yes, at one point you can see Gaga fighting back tears. I think she would have bawled throughout the entire performance if this was anywhere other than the Oscars. I'm not surprised the vocals were shaky. I can forgive her for it because the emotion is what gives the song that extra special touch and I loved it more than the studio version. :diane:

I saw her backstage interview with Lara Spencer on GMA and she said Bradley told her to give joy to the audience with this performance.  I think they succeeded.  She also said she rarely gives up control for live performances but she told Bradley it was all on him. I like what he did with the camera shots

One of the wekest Gaga's performance lmao but i'm glad the GP is stupid in this case.

Honestly I think most ppl loved the concept of them walking on stage, the fact that they showed chemistry with eachother as they performed and Gaga's dress was also amazing and it was Bradley and Gaga's first televised performance together after all these months of a hyped collaboration

I think all of that kinda overshadowed and distracted people from the fact that Gaga's vocals werent as perfectly on point as it usually is

Had it been a more regular solo performance by Gaga, people would have payed more attention to that but in this case there was a lot standing out that took people's attention away from that

I think the point is we don’t need to critique it like they are Voice contestants.

It was the most iconic pop culture moment we’ve had in YEARS.

Wait he directed the performance? I assumed it was the show runners choice to film it that way.  I’m just a little skeptical that Bradley would be that involved.

I get it but also what about singers at senior recitals where they are graded on how well they sing? They have to be just as nervous cause it makes or breaks whether they graduate or not. And the professor can’t just give them points because they were nervous because everyone is.

I get it, they were nervous but there were still flaws and if someone doesn’t like it because of them - then it’s fine.

Unneccesary hate is always wrong though 🤷🏻‍♂️

if you were a true singer or you knew of music you would know that singing practically a capella is very difficult, it is the terror of the singers, even the most professional.

They did an amazing job. stay pressed
