I know the lines can become blurred right now, but Republicans do not equal Trump supporters. 

I have a major issue with "Trump Supporters" and their perpetuation of racism, homophobia, bigotry, and ignorance. 

Republicans just have different political views than me some of the time. I don't hate Republicans and believe that everyones life experiences are different and effect their voting. I live in a liberal state and have different experiences and values than the midwest or maybe even Texas. Doesn't mean that I am superior, I just think we need to reach across the aisle more and try to come to some agreements with major issues that plague the USA. Unfortunately the issues that are costing lives, such as a lack of gun control, are largely supported by Republicans.

As for "Trump Supporters"...I honestly have no respect for them. I don't understand their views. I don't understand their hate, and I couldn't care less if you are shunned.

I agree with you on everything you said before this, but let me clarify. Most Trump supporters aren't exactly "Trump supporters" but only support what he has done to the economy and respect his wishes for higher security around the borders, which I don't think a necessarily a bad thing, but it can be done a different way than "building a wall" 

For instance, my grandparents are Trump supporters because they want our country to be safe from terrorism and have a protected border, but they aren't bad people and support the LGBT community, help out at volunteering, and go to church every Sunday to top it all off.

Okay maybe I should phrase it better. I put it in quotations because I was referring to the cliche Trump supporters who are racist and horrible and spout views that are just plain ignorant (like my grandparents unfortunately). They listen to the crazy extremist right radio stations and think its okay for kids to be in cages etc.  With all the crazy stuff they say, I now understand why my father kept us away from them.

Yeah I had no idea how bad they were until my last visit with them like 6 months ago. I understand that you start to lose your mind and get really paranoid in your 80s, but I left really shaken up at their views and haven’t seen them since. My papa was trying to tell me that Muslims are lurking in the midwest and are trying to overthrow the government and a whole bunch of other things. He was also raving about Trump and saying women who claim rape are liars. I- 

Luckily the rest of my family is amazing though and I was NEVER exposed to that kind of hate speech before which is probably why I cried in the car the whole way home.

Don't even get me started on the tariffs. While the short-term ramifications you mentioned are certainly bad, I actually think the more dangerous result of his actions will be the precedent. Essentially, he is utilizing America's current power as leverage to get the trade deals he wants.... which is all fine and dandy till you are no longer the world's main super power.

Also I hate how he blames trade deals for trade deficits and uses that as an argument (ok with China I can understand cuz half the world complains about their unfair policies but I mean with the rest of the world)

 

The US runs big federal budget deficits And puts more capital into the economy than it takes out with taxes stimulating Americas economy purchasing power beyond what it's productive capacity would otherwise allow it to consume on its own

 

Also the massive $700 Billion spending on military (like 4% of GDP) doesn't help. Those millions of military personnel are payed and have to eat like everyone else and consume goods (many imported) but they do not do anything industrially productive that can be exported 

 

I don't think Trump understands the factors at play that actually cause trade deficits. Or if he does understand he doesn't want to acknowledge the real reasons to his supporters

What are you talking about? His latest job approval is 44%, and 39% on average

Politics is a lot more complex than just gay issues

It’s also more complex than racial equality and women’s rights, but straight white guys seem to fall back on these sayings when their rights aren’t being challenged.
