Yes all the countries where Shallow has been smashing is favored towards Streams. All countries in Scandinavia for exemple is 99% based on spotify streams. It has been 8 weeks #1 on the official chart in Sweden and is the 2nd longest running #1 ever on Spotify with 68 days (only behind Despacito), still #2 right now and Sweden has contributed almost 24M alone to Shallows total spotify streams (only behind UK and US). Same has happend in Norway and Denmark, 3 weeks #1 for Shallow in Denmark and it never left the top 10 in Norway since release (peak 3). France is also mostly streams and Italy too and still manged to get to #4 and #3 same with UK, AUS, Ireland, other countries in europe etc where Shallow has smashed.

Shallow is a streaming smash outside US, how do you think it's holding up so well on spotify WW and Youtube 5 months after it's release when it's doing very poorly in the US when it comes to streams. It's hitting 1 billion streams and 1 billion views on both Spotify and Youtube in the next 1-2 years :lolly:

Portugal where I used to live is also smashing there. I notice it stayed in the top 3 streamed songs for a long time. Right now it's #5 there on spotify

Here in Canada it stayed top 10 for quite a while in streams but has recently dropped off the top 20 (currently #21)

Sales it has done amazing here. For a long time it had double the sales as the song at #2. But again sales alone only does so much

It hasn't done as well as in Europe but has done better than in the US it did peak at #3 and it has remained in the top 10

If radio in Canada didn't pay it dust it maybe could of gone #1 here too. It lost a lot of points on the charts for its mediocre airplay

But I find in Canada ballads and non-mainstream songs struggle to get airplay even more than in the US

The US at least on occasion has country or R&B or Rap do well on the charts... Here in Canada mainstream Pop is like all that can make the top of the charts

Pop girls like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Gaga (when she's pop) here always outdo their US chart performance

It really is a great song! Bradley Cooper is now a musician, too. Fantastic! He is so talented. And it goes without saying that Gaga is, also.

Yeah it's a shame radio is counted towards the charts in Can/US making the song weaker on the charts but Canada is doing amazing anyways, the amount of weeks Shallow has been top 10 there is still amazing :applause:

Yeah it's awesome. I just don't get how a song that did so well on streaming, sales and public perception got such bad airplay but oh well

At least in the US the Hot Adult Contemporary Stations gave it some love but here it bombed even in that radio format

I find Canadian radio(and our overall charts) is even more Pop Obssessed than the US...

If you look at Canada's chart history Pop music from Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift (after she went pop) etc has outperformed the US charts

But then ballads, or R&B, Rap whatever doesn't chart as high here

Literally every Gaga single did better in Canada than in the US except You and I, and I think Perfect Illusion

Radio here is even more harsh against songs that aren't mainstream Pop so it doesn't surprise me they payed Shallow dust despite the obvious popularity of the song

Even rap and hip-hop... Only big artists like Drake, Cardi, Nicky Minaj, Post Malone get attention otherwise it's all pop music

But it's clearly not just the algorithms because relative to other YouTube videos it has gone up too

It was always ranked #40 to #50 now it's been consistently in the top 20 every day (sometimes top 15)

Some songs have such long runs that still pull impressive numbers years after. Despacito was yesterday in Portugal and some o of the biggest shows use it very often. It's also a party anthem.

Shallow is following the same path. People use the song and people look for it. Also, the grammy, the oscar and all the hype around it. My aunt keeps posting it on facebook and she didn't saw the movie ahah

Because it’s iconic.

It only seems weird because it doesn’t happen often anymore due to the pop culture being so saturated with content that our attention spans are short.

Because everything about it is what the world is lacking. A conversation. A longing for meaning.

And that chorus is so unique and authentic and catchy as hell. It still blows my mind that Gaga & Mark put those notes together.
