He knows full well what the backlash will be. I have to watch the entire interview before passing judgement, but the fact that he is ashamed for those thoughts is something we should take into consideration. He had nothing to gain by talking about this, but he could maybe help the cause by showing others an example that people can change. This right here. The guy is basically sharing a story about personal growth which if anything we should encourage. We don't know the details except a vague statement "it happened many years ago". The important bit is he's telling the story because he today finds this past viewpoint of his to be alien and wrong. I find it deeply concerning that people's first reaction is to throw him at the stake when we should be encouraging this type of growth, not condemning it for all eternity.
