Hopefully, the support will even grow and queen Le Pen will finally snatch her presidency. Macron turned out to be such a disaster.

However, it's absolutely satisfying to see far-left seething when such polls show up. Yes, call white gays racist and xenophobic one more time, and maybe you will win their support:fail:

See, this is a statement we can agree on and something I've said here for a while :lolga: you can't expect unity when you say things like "sounds about white" or trash the "white gay boys". When you turn away potential allies, you're definitely not winning over any opponents.

Though I disagree with most everything else. We can't all get along and move forward as a species when our leaders want to strip us of our rights or harm us just 'cause we love people of the same sex. I question the judgement of any ally or LGBTQ+ member who votes for anything right-of-center. Some here might say "well, they have different priorities" but that just makes it worse. You'd value economics that've been proven to fall short in the long run over your own safety and human rights? :toofunny:

Euro-gays, what are you thinking? :saladga:

You're not going to enjoy your right wing government while your marriages are ripped up, adopted children taken away, discrimination protections stripped from you, and while homophobia (with probable violence associated) becomes normalized. Sure, they'll protect you from the "scary brown people" from the Middle East but then who's going to protect you from them?

Men overall seem to be gravitating to that far-right **** anymore.  It's sad that they feel "disenfranchised" so they turn to douchebags like Ben Shapiro or Dave Rubin to get out their misappropriated anger about things they have no idea about.

The thing is, in most European countries, there are no liberal parties that care about global warming, LGBT issues, but oppose reckless immigration. This is why a lot of gay men resort to voting for parties that don't necessarily support them.

And why this is is because native, non-muslim Europeans are put on a different pedestal when it comes to homophobia, while immigrants from extremely anti-LGBT countries, countries where are gay people are beheaded, tortured, killed, put to jail, their views on homosexuality and LGBT are handled with silk gloves and not given the time of day.

So do you support a party that wants to put a stop to reckless immigration, but don't necessarily support LGBT, equality of sexes and fighting global warming, or do you support a party that does those things but doesn't have any critical view when it comes to immigration?

Here's a concept...

Some LGBT may not make LGBT the one single issue determining who they vote for... There's other issues in life that might actually sway some to vote right wing...

I'm tired of some people acting like some specific social issues should define my entire political opinion :saladga:

I've had this discussion with you before, and in lieu of throwing out the "P" word and immediately being branded a radical, I'll say this... I feel like you should consider a more holistic approach when it comes to the impact of what you deem a single factor like sexuality, gender and gender identity, race, etc.

Any political attempts to make groups of people second class citizens with less rights and respect not only under the law but in the majority's purview of things makes life for all of those people harder. Not just in a sort of "you have to work a bit harder" kind of way, but also in the sense that they cannot maneuver through their own environments as successfully as others and there are literal barriers put up on certain parts of life - for no reason other than that they are LGBT, a person of color, a woman, disabled, etc. In extreme cases every potential interaction with the government and even with other citizen is clouded by these barriers. And its about perception, not reality. (Though reality hurts too lol).

Morality discussions aside, you obviously have the right to vote for your own pursuit of happiness. Maybe where u live (I know its Canada lol) voting for an economically right-wing politician doesn't mean significantly impairing your standing as a person  (or you don't care that much or something), but for many people in countries all over the world that luxury doesnt exist. It might not be as extreme as death all of the time, but just being seen as "less than" and being barred from certain spheres of society because of X unreasonable factor is wrong. Your sexuality, race, gender, etc. has nothing to do with for example whether you should be able to get a loan from a bank to get a home or a car, or be able to adopt a child, be able to live in a certain neighborhood, be able to get and hold a job wherever you are qualified and fit to do, be able to get into college, be able start a business and have it be fruitful, and be able to interact with the economy and market on a basic level. But it does, and discrimination in those kinds of things is common, even in places where it is illegal, less so in places where it is strongly enforced and has widespread public disdain.

That's why people vote for people who support them as people. People are citizens of their countries, and that gives them a lot of freedom so to speak. But they have to be seen as people to be citizens, and compromising as being seen as anything less than fully a person and thus a citizen is dangerous. It's not a "single specific social issue" to people, it's their entire potential life. Some people don't get to worry about the "other issues in life" because they quite literally can't even access those things or begin to worry about them. That's the injustice being fought.

Politicians and people on the right, especially the far-right don't just want "gay marriage" to be illegal. They don't just want "abortion" to be illegal. Those would be single issues. They don't want them to be equal citizens because of their bigoted and ignorant beliefs about them, and this means that they will ultimately support all kinds of legislation and set precedents to prevent them from having full access to the economy and to decrease their acceptance in social spheres as well. (Because social acceptance can lead to legal and economic acceptance).

~~

For this reason, in my experience, people of those marginalized groups who vote seemingly "against their own interests" are not read as simply ignoring a single specific political issue. They are seen as Selfish; People who *clearly* don't have the interests of either their own communities or other less fortunate communities in their minds. They are read as people who are either too stupid/ignorant to care, or people who have so much that they don't think they need to care (when in reality they should just logically, because any inaction in allowing for people to be stripped of rights or disrespected sets precedent that the government can do it to you whenever it chooses :emma: ). Or, most sadly, they are read as people who are so damaged by society's view of their identity that they feel they must distance themselves from it... the irony being that this phenomenon is also emblematic of the problem.

I'm not saying that's my thought process, but I'm saying thats what people see it and read it as, and why.

私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

Not really, but the simple fear of Islamic people with a homophobic view drives them up the wall into the arms of people with homophobic views.

Xenophobia is one of the more literal phobias. People would rather choose familiar bad than strange neutral.

After all, even if homophobic people came into a country, a party that tries to include everyone and build equity will ensure that everyone is held to the law and people don't get discriminated against at work, etc.

Homophobia has been rising in Europe though. It’s sad that some (!!! y’all sound like all gays vote far right) will vote far right as a consequence cause the far right has actually power to create anti-gay laws. We shouldn’t downplay homophobia in other parts of the society though.

just out of necessity of compassion, as you have towards your own 'people', you should realize that your own problems aren't everyone's problems, aren't the problems of the majority of the world, & should work towards solving the problems of both sides in a manner that doesn't focus on you & your own side only. you idiot.

Yes, because solving everyone's problems while NOT being specifically AGAINST LGBT rights is reaaaaaally difficult.

It's interesting to notice that is specifically only gay men. If you look at the data of how the entire LGBT+ spectrum votes, you see that it's actually a lot more left leaning. 12% of all gay voters in Germany voted far-right, while only 2,7% of all LGBT people overall in Germany voted far-right.

For example, a 2015 French poll showed 26% of gay and bisexual male voters supporting Marine Le Pen, the anti-gay politician with the far-right National Front party — only 16% of straight voters supported Le Pen. That same year, 38% of gay male couples voted for Le Pen’s party whereas only 29% of straight couples did the same.

I see a lot of talking about xenophobia in this thread but nobody seems to address this. Why would gay men in particular vote far-right, more than straight or other LGBT people ?

No of course not but there's a difference between a conservative party that still, even if begrudgingly, accepts the laws to protect gay people and far-right parties that want to demolish these laws and make gay people at best into second class citizens and at worst see them die. Parties like the Republicans, the AfD, the Front National and the PiS aren't just simple conservatives, they are far-right collections that will turn against the gay people that support them as soon as their current target isn't worth caring anymore. Not to forget that these parties aren't just anti-LGBTQ but have a whole potpourri of beliefs that can not and do not line up with a free democracy.
