How would Shallow have faired if sent to country radio? It's one of the larger formats and perhaps would've smashed.. but Shallah isn't really so much a country song.. hmm @Gypsy Life

Country radio doesn't play people outside of their own or crossover music. They never even play anything like Kacey Musgraves, no matter how many AOTYs and Country awards she wins.

They don't play Kacey? Why?

2 pages before that many people said it's because she is pro LGBTQ :huntyga:

Country radio has a very conservative (in the literal sense) gatekeeping thing that they only want to "keep" one kind of country music culture and only consider that to be "real" music and other music that sounds country isn't country to them.

Country radio only play a selected group of artists. Even some country artist has issues with the format.

The country radio does not play Kacey Musgraves because she support the LGBTQ community.

They only play bro-country songs and every Carrie Underwood single.

They don’t play female artists periodT

thats why most of em including kacey and marren Morris are crossing over and forging their own paths

This Sunday is going to be so fun :fan:

how in the world is she going to be surprised by winning Best Original Song? I mean c'mon at this point...

She'll win BOS and then start crying and then do the hands in face thing that she's done every awards show. Nothing new.

"My Vote: "Shallow" (A Star Is Born)

I didn't like the song from Mary Poppins [Returns, "The Place Where Lost Things Goes"]. I don't even remember the song from RBG ["I'll Fight"]. "All the Stars" [from Black Panther] was somewhat memorable. But, to me, they were just searching for songs to fill up the category. Isn't a song supposed to reflect a bit about the movie and be memorable? To me, there was only one that deserves this sort of an honor: like everyone else, I really liked "Shallow." It draws you in to the picture, and it's also what she should have sung at the end of the movie, instead of the goodbye tribute-song."

An Oscar voter :flower:

I never use that expression but ... tea was spilled, this is why I had a fight with someone who called BOS a consolation prize for losing best actress. "Shallow" is the most deserving of them all. And thank god  they did not submit "the goodbye tribute song", sounds like every other ballad from the 1990s
