Oh wow, I am currently listening to Maroon 5's hits, and they have so many of them. Legends. I've been quite a fan since Wake Up Call. They blow every pop girl of this millennium out of the water when it comes to longevity and the number of hits.

Songs About Jane sold 10m+ worldwide, and two of their other albums did go number one. They don't have any substantial following like pop girls, but the GP loves them, which is why radio plays them for so many years.

They dont have a particular soung. They're not even a band. It;s just Adam Levine, all the other members left after he sold out and started being generic and only making trendy songs. Songs About Jane is their only good album .

Their albums get bad critic and user reviews on metacritic aswel...

Yes, Rihanna and Katy have more hits indeed, but there is nothing delusional about the longevity remark.

I am not an M5 stan:kiss:
I decided to give a listen to their discography and realized that when it comes to longevity+hits, they trump every pop girl (probably, sans Rihanna, but MLJ is objectively bigger than any Rihanna song) + Rihanna is not really a pop girl given her frequent forays into urban music.

corvus albus

Maroon 5 had some good hits early into their career. But the band had a sharp decline in quality after the second album. Their third album was a huge flop producing only one minor hit and the album sold pretty poorly.

The only thing that saved Maroon 5 was the calculated and soulless "Moves Like Jagger" and their subsequent sellout hits like "Payphone" and "One More Night". The thing that saved the career of the band wasn't their quality but the fact that Adam Levine had such low standards and such a huge ego that having fame became more important than making good music. You can't compare a commercial sellout-band to pop girls that at least try to have depth and work really hard on their music (Gaga, Adele, yes even Taylor). You can, however, compare them to commercial pop girls like Katy Perry and Rihanna. Comparing Maroon 5 to these acts shows how far behind they actually are.

At this time two years ago, we had all the banners on iTunes US and Joanne and MR were already approaching #1.  It was such a great week for us.

Arturo

next Sunday is going to be a mess

I think the show starts at 5 pm Pacific but the pre ceremony either starts at 2 pm or 3 pm.

So there’ll be at least 5 hours gap of agony as we sift through Gaga’s 5 categories (2 or 3 in the pre ceremony and then 3 or 2 in the main ceremony)

I think M5 has a couple of bops, but since the art police thing, they went downhill. I liked early Maroon 5, when they came to my country in 2017, they were charging from $200 up to like $800 :messga: the locals went CRAZY and the first area that was sold out was the more expensive one, and thinking that the economy is not that good over here, shows how popular they are between the GP. I’m not expecting that much coming from tonight, but I can see them blowing up in sales, GLY coming for a re-entry at top 5 (maybe #1 again) on BB100, white soccer moms and straight boys will make comments like “tHaT’s ThE cOoLeSt ThInG eVeR”, memes all over the internet. Maybe Travis could be the one bringing the “crazy/cool” aspect to the performance, like when he put a roller coaster in his show:

I’m not here for it honestly. There’s 0 hype and almos no one is talking about it.

They might snatch that #1 on iTunes US and maybe WW from us :triggered:
