Why did Gaga avoid hits/success with LG5?

It was confirmed that the sessions with ReDone were literally just to get her ready for a new album cycle. They were never intended to be released

When?

Why would she make music with RedOne just for the sole person of not releasing it and then working with someone else?

She doesn’t avoid hits. She is smart and Joanne was a perfect segue into ASIB. It gave the GP a different side of her, one that was less polarizing and pop-centric. This was greatly beneficial to the film.

I am by no means implying that she was being inauthentic with Joanne, however that is where she was musically as it was a precursor to ASIB.

She did all the artsy fartsy stuff by 2013. 2014-2018 was her revival of the hidden talent to the GP era... now that she is in GP's good books she can toy around with both Lady and Gaga for the next 20 years taking turns... I hope her next album has a equal number of ballads and pop songs... make it 9 pop and 9 power pop ballads... make hillary lindsey her b**** and chain her in the basement until she comes up with 5 ARUTWs and 4 INLAs.

Christ,

LG5 gave us the acclaimed, unique and wonderful album Joanne. It gave us the superbowl and Coachella, two of her best performances! It gave us the bridge to ASIB. It gave us the JWT. None of these to me were unsuccessful. I love Joanne but while I don't think it's her BEST album, its far from unsuccessful.

Also, I think 2018radioisours was about asib

The broke-up with Taylor Kinney happened. And she was hurt, even though she didn't really wanted to show that. But she showed it through her music.

She and Mark Ronson reacquainted and made Joanne (the song) which set the course for the album and David Bowie passed away

With TV promotion Perfect Illusion could have went top ten because of the hype that was backing it. Maybe fibromyalgia prevented her from performing the song too much? (Although, it doesn't have a dance routine.)

Reject False Icons

Are y'all so innocent to believe that one of the biggest singers in the industry controls everything in her career and doesn't have to achieve certain numbers and expectations today :giggle:

Just for you to know the industry is still VERY agressive with the artists, even an artist like Madonna or even Beyoncé is forced to do what the label wants to do Ex: Writing camps (Madge)

In case that you don't recall just back in the Joanne era Father John Misty talked about the collaboration with Gaga and Bey. That´s what he said: “If you think that pop stars are anything other than prisoners, then you are ****ing kidding yourself,” he said. “…why do you think that Lady Gaga or Beyoncé would come to old Uncle Jerry over here for songs if they weren’t looking for something? If they weren’t like, ‘Get me away from these ****ing psychos.’ Both of them know I’m not running around looking for these gigs.”

Joanne was a fresh place in her discography and it was her as the Artist, making the music she truly wanted to make instead of being forced to make catchy pop hits that your not into. She’s been there done that.

I do hope she does get a #1 again someday tho.

Honestly, I don’t think Gaga ever care about creating songs just for hits. If she did, she would make radio friendly songs over and over again. She makes what she wants to make. Having hits and doing numbers is great but integrity and putting out the art you want to put out at a particular period of your life is much much better. And that’s why I will always stan her.

Does it matter? Damage is done

you all talk as if working with RedOne and having hit songs is a sin. It's not that deep :awkney: She just suddenly felt like making a country-influenced album so she put that RO project on hold or something like that. I just know that she didn't hate those songs like some of you said. As seen on her twitter and instagram, she had a really good time working with him.

Lets face it, she cant handle the toxicity of being a pop star anymore.

Its much more appropriate for her to focus on acting and do albums as a side project. She is getting old and she dont want to be a pop star forever. Our gal is a woman now

Y'all got it all wrong lol. She realized, rightly, that her electropop hits stopped selling and knew she couldn't keep up with the pop tweens and their sound anymore, so she just switched to different genres to avoid being labelled a flop

I mean, what's less obvious than releasing a country ballad hit to get the US audience back? :lmao: She's still strategizing to maximize success, she just knows (thank god) that electropop isn't gonna do it anymore because that genre is OVER and DONE WITH and anyone who will try to make it happen again is just dooming himself :madge: Why do you think Bey stopped trying to get hits and focused on making attractive album concepts? Bey's response to the state of the music industry has inspired almost every pop star to switch up their own game, from Gaga to Katy.

I mean, RedOne can say all he wants but every song he's done since working with Gaga has been an absolute off-trend disgrace that sounds like a leftover from days that are most definitely gone. Gaga didn't stop working with him because she didn't want hits, but because she knew he couldn't get her hits anymore :rip:

I mean, ask yourself why she's working with people like Bloodpop, Ronson, Parker,... She's still chasing what's popular and GP friendly and trying to put a unique stamp on it so she's not fatally compared to people like Ariana and Nicki 'cause god knows she'll lose that fight :smh: But no, she's absolutely still trying to get hits. Cue The Cure and the up-tempo numbers of Joanne. Just because it's not working doesn't mean she's not trying, look at Katy :air:

Atleast there's the chance that all the shelved and unreleased music she's done over the years could be released in the future, example prince and MJ:excited2:

lol why do you guys always think Gaga flops on purpose? She didn’t “avoid hits”, she put out things, they flopped, **** happens

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.
