Poker 3,728
This era has been pretty successful if you ask me. I don't think she's avoiding hits, she's just avoiding pop. Kindness rules all.

I’m not remembering any of this. 2) I really don’t think Redone would take time out of his schedule to write/produce songs just for fun with Gaga. From @PropaGaga "Gaga was always going to make Joanne, which is why she knew early on with RedOne that those songs wouldn't be used. She spoke to Mark in early 2015 about doing an album together." Chickens in Malibu 7,873
I take everything Redone says with a grain of salt. His taste in music is dated.
Delulu Rogers 7,301
What do you all mean she ISN’T avoiding hits? JW and ARUTW would have been big if she released them but she didn’t. Not to mention Joanne only had 2 singles and she didn’t even bother with the lead so... is she avoiding success??? Seems like it

Sid 6,755
I think she was going for a slower, more laid back album cycle because she was probably working on her acting for ASIB, plus her fibromyalgia. She obviously wasn't ready for BTW or AP level promotion again, and I don't blame her. You have to remember though, Gaga has an entirely different team now. Hence ARTPOP being "messy" in the eyes of some (since she fired Troy the week before it dropped and had to follow through with the album cycle herself) and CTC/Joanne being dramatically different from what fans expected. I think she's taken some time to go back to her roots and find "Gaga" again, but to do it right and not have another AP mess will take a lot of planning and coordination - plus, the music industry is a very different space than it was a few years ago. Some of the original LG5 stuff is probably incorporated into LG6, and the Enigma concept seems like it was planned with new songs in mind. I'm sure she didn't plan the entire Vegas show without new material to support it. ...ıllıllı c h e r r y c h e r r y b o o m b o o m ıllıllı... For the first time in her career, during Joanne, I had to ask myself if Gaga was losing steam with her songwriting quality. Besides the notable exceptions Million Reasons, Just Another Day, Grigio Girls, and Angel Down, most of the songs were unexpectedly weak. Not talking about production or the era itself, just the actual songs. I'm just glad Joanne is over and the queen of writing (or co-writing) great songs has returned Finally someone who dislikes Joanne for valid reasons i actually love Joanne, but to me a lot of times, especially now it comes off as, “oh look at me I can do folk/rootsy music, please take me seriously and put me in ur movie plz” like I get that that’s sounds mean but I feel like it was a rebranding if sorts to let the GP know she can do other genres. OT: I think that if Gaga wanted to get a #1 or a Top 10/5 she would already have. She’s at the point in her career where she doesn’t need that anymore, it would be so amazing if she did do an album like that, even for one last time, but as of now, that chapter of her life has been closed for good ✨oh the lights dim while we’re dancing yeah the floor is shaking in this disco heaven✨
McYves 1,612
What does "success" even mean to some people? I don't want to be rude, but she's definitely NOT avoiding success nor avoiding "hits". C'mon, the Super Bowl? A Star Is Born? Both the movie and the soundtrack? Million Reasons? Shallow, anyone? She's been pretty ****ing succesful in so many levels, no matter what. I think she sees "success" in a different way now, and we should also learn that. It's not about hits for hits' sake, it's about having a voice and talent and creating a deeper connection with people through art. And honestly "God Is A Woman", "Thank U Next" and whatever Beyoncé has released in the last 5 years is nothing compared to what Gaga has done and achieved. To me that's success. Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch, just drink my ****ing coffee and watch 90's cartoons and hush
