He’s so petty. Let’s cancel Air Force One as well. No golf trips for him until he reopens the government.

Off topic, but are public teachers, doctors and public stuff being paid at all? Or are there only 800,000 public employees in the US?

They are paid. My mom works for the VA Hospital and she is getting paid. It’s not ALL government jobs... but it sucks for the ones who aren’t getting paid. I’m nervous to fly in a few weeks because TSA isn’t getting paid.

Oh so it's the same as here in Spain, education and health are responsibility of the autonomous communities. Sometimes I forget the US is a decentralized country lol

Yeah, like honestly for me it sounds surreal to think that the government of the biggest economy in the world can just casually shutdown from one day to another and stop paying its employees lmao.

Yeah, it’s odd. Happened during Obama too - But I guess I personally don’t feel any of the large effects of it.

Not that I think it’s ok to shut the government down because of this issue :huntyga:

What @DiscoHeaven23 said. Teachers and doctors etc are payed by States not Federal Government

Same here in Canada. While we do not have Government Shutdowns as part of our politics, if it were ever to occur such jobs wouldn't be impacted here either as Provinces pay for that

In More Centralized Nations like Portugal where I used to live, a Government ShutDown would affect more workers

He's not wrong.

They should both stay in D.C until government is open. It's their responsibility to open the government, while hundreds of thousands of americans are being unpaid.

I mean seriously. I don't like the wall but it's not something I would shut down the government for one month to prevent.

I would let trump build it and have the people make a call on his presidency in 2020.

Why should she stay, when he won't negotiate?

And no, no one should give him his stupid wall. To grant him the realization of his MOST STUPID idea will show him, that he can use a shutdown for every little thing he wants.

He's such a pain in the ass...

He's absolutely wrong! He couldn't even get the wall passed for TWO YEARS when Republicans controlled both the House and the Senate!

What on God's green Earth makes you think that Trump should get his wall NOW considering Republicans LOST SEATS in the House?!

Nancy and every Democrat are in DC right now trying to fix this. Might I ask you where Mitch McConnell is and how many votes he has allowed in the Senate since the shutdown?

Hint:

Spoiler

He's nowhere to be seen and he has put ZERO MEASURES UP FOR A FLOOR VOTE!

~800,000 is the number of workers that are considered non-essential and are working without pay.

Really? When I read it, it read like one of his goddam Tweets :excuseu:

The biggest giveaway was the improper grammar and capitalization. This man is unhinged.

I do not think a president has ever stopped a CODEL like this. These are not "public relations" trips, these are serious BIPARTISAN diplomatic missions and a chance for our troops abroad to receive encouragement.

Conveniently, no CODEL was "postponed" by Trump when Republicans shut down the government last time.

Trump left Washington and went to Iraq during the government shut down. That isn't why he canceled her trip.
