she kind of forced the radios to play the words gay straight or bi, lesbian transgender because she knew that the song would be massive hit alone from the hype.

as if ariana would do something like that now, whatever she releases, they can not ignore it.

is there a need to do something like that now? im aware of her work with don't ask don't tell. but I also think born this way kind of dumbs down LGBTQ identities years later. if it made people feel better thats fine. but I think it has its positive and negative impacts on LGBT life. wider social/market acceptance and the downside being commodifying sexuality and gender identity. especially now. but in 2011. it was needed for sure. i'm not knocking her I just think its interesting to think about.
