She won't do it. With all the efforts for representation these days, she can't play an Egyptian.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

She would slay this role so hard and those SJWs can seethe. If you want to act like you know everything you should make sure to know basic history. If not they should all shut up.

OMG at people thinking Beyonce should be Cleopatra. Right because Cleopatra was Creole? Greek and Macedonian sweets.

Just give it to Angelina. She was born for that role.

Gaga is the right option.

Cleopatra had a big nose and was actually not beautiful, at all. Angelina is too beauty queen.

Mess did you just say Gaga is ugly enough for the role :rip:

If this is true then how amazing is it that she is actually in competition with freaking Angelina Jolie. :gaycat:

I think she would slay the role and has the look. The uneducated can sit and seethe thinking that Cleopatra was black. Read a book. Watch some documentaries. Do some research before you speak cause you look like fools.

I love ancient Egypt art and history so I'm here for a HISTORICALLY ACCURATE and high budget movie with that plot. Cleopatra, Nefertiti, Hatsepsut or Ramses II idk

Of course, I would love to see Gaga as Cleopatra but I think I'm interested in a movie like this regardless. Coincidentally, what I thought with ASIB, a topic I'm interested in

I feel the exact same way. A historically accurate film that looks great. The plots are already written in history and I have been dying for films that approach ancient Egypt.

Well, kinda :rip: I answered a member above, but basically I’m not saying Gaga is ugly, I’m saying Angelina is too beautiful.

Gaga may snatch this role by a nose.

Also, if they’re giving this new movie a feminist twist it would be smart to rather cast a non-traditional beauty, that way people could stop thinking Cleopatra’s power was based in her beauty, but her intelligence and character.

smh the Ptolemaic wasn't even the only non-black dynasty... Egypt was never a black empire. Ethiopians and Pygmies lived and ruled alongside Indo-Aryans, Semites and others since the very beginning. people of all races were settling along the lower Nile. no such thing as an Egyptian ethnicity existed, not even a homogeneous mixed race majority...not to mention, for most of antiquity it wasn't even referred to as Egypt but as (The Great) Empire of the Nile and the people of that empire would've seen Angela Basset and Tilda Swinton as equally legitimate reincarnations of Isis as long as the times were good lmao

I don’t see the point in arguing the ethnic background. Whether or not any SJW criticism is justified, it will be bad press. Why would we want inevitable bad press?

Ok, so she’s Greek - but we don’t want negative headlines overshadowing the movie nor SJW film critics impacting the critical success of the movie.

I think it would be best to stay away from this project, and take on a completely original role.
