And praised the hell out of it.

As a Canadian though, it's hardly surprising that he would show up at TIFF's hottest screening. But then again, he didn't have a film last year so why was he there at all?

Anyways, I'm still on the fence about this Cleopatra thing because it's a risky project that could make or break a career, but if Denis really ends up directing it then I'm all in. Denis is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time and there's simply no better choice for a project like this.

because every time this comes up people have this same annoying discussion about egyptians and giving way too many f*cks about what some random twitter trolls think and wondering about backlash and uggghhh... it's just a pain in the ass and the rumors are based on absolutely nothing.

Oh that.. I understand honestly but then again it’s a known fact that Cleopatra was not egyptian and that she was Macedonian/Greek. Also whatever role (literally) she gets there will be trolls who will try to bring her down...

I really am stoked for a high budget film. Can you imagine the looks? It'll be like a two hour music video wet dream. And ya'll just know Gaga will serve quality Egyptianesque soundtrack bops :saladga:

Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

I think the only way Gaga would do this movie is if she had a deep connection to it in some way. With ASIB, the stars aligned perfectly to create magic on and off set, and it was a perfect environment for her to learn the ins and outs of starring in a film. If she fully trusts the project and those working on it then I would be thrilled for her to be a part of pretty much any film.

i read an article about how Gaga was "playing characters" before, and that with ASIB she was finally "acting", and I have to agree with that. I think if she takes on this role, she will go backward instead of forward, and will be pigeonholed as an actress, because when you think of Gaga, you immediately think of an over-the-top camp character, so that is the safest thing to do, and we don't want her to be safe. Comfort never results in greatness.

Lol some might say that in ASIB she wasnt acting for more than half of the film. Many people (who weren't that familiar with Gaga) thought it was based on her own life because Ally reminded them too much of her.

Also, during some scenes of the film, you hear that the things she is saying are said by Gaga, and not by Ally. And no I am nkt bashing ASIB, honey I love this movie more than anybody else, but to say that in Cleopatra she wouldnt act.....haha.

She did say She wanted play Cleópatra.

Its been a while since we had a big movie about ancient history

I would love more a Salomé, elektra for ex. But Cleópatra is a dream character
