Does deleting DWUW set a bad precedent?

Gaga was aware of Rape Kelly's crimes and she did the collab on purpose to be controversial and she felt bad afterwards. If RedOne turns out to be a creep, she won't delete anything because she didn't know at the time they worked together.

I mean, its pretty safe to assume most of Gaga's producers and collaborators aren't pedophiles or abusers, even though in music industry but I guess you never know.

This - Gaga made a bad, twisted mistake of working with him during a dark time in her life and now she is remorseful.

Removing is a good idea that sends a strong message, even if so many of us love the song.

Yes I believe she did the right thing. Even if services don’t remove his discography, I believe Gaga did the right thing by removing him from her discography.

I also think she would be getting extreme backlash if she had not removed the song, as opposed to the very mild, almost non-existent “backlash” she is currently receiving.

Yeah but that song smash and Idc care honestly, art is art. And even if I don't even agree with that statement, nowadays people are tryna wanna erase everything which even slightly bothers them, so I'm gonna stick to that statement after all.

I'l still listen to DWUW, it's not like I'm committing some sort of crime or even just not caring about how horrible rk is. I'm just listening to a song that I like, that's all and that should be all for everybody, even more if I'm not even listening to his awful voice or reading his name in the title of the song

I’m pretty sure it’s not. Gaga wrote her solo demo first, then had Kelly write in his verse, and then Christina re-recorded Gaga’s written verse.

So the Christina version has nothing to do with Kelly. He may have writing credits for the song in general, but we know he didn’t help at all on that version

I agree he has technical credits for the song in general but I believe he really didn’t do any of the song writing that appears in the Christina version (that was all gaga)

So he may still be getting money from that version but I don’t see him actually being “involved” in that final product.

If that makes sense :laughga:

Like i know he gets money for the song but I don’t feel his input when I listen to the Christina version.

I think she did the right thing, The problem is people wanted actions after This whole deal. The amount of News stories that don't acknowledge every thing she's done in the past like Till it happens to you, The Oscars performance with the Survivors or Her work with Joe Biden.

I think that what led her to delete DWUW was not only the fact that R. Kelly was on it. What made DWUW very problematic was the very sexual, almost rapey, meaning of Kelly's part, combined with his real-life crimes. And the fact that said crimes were publicly known at the time of creation of DWUW.

This. I think if it was any other song and not ‘do what u want with my body’ it prob would still be online lol

I think you all should watch Surviving R. Kelly and then listen to DWUW featuring him. It's pretty easy to understand why deleting DWUW was the right thing to do.
