Is it really that hard to believe that Gaga simply didn’t believe the rumors about him and that her stance has since changed?

Wouldn’t it be completely genius though? Wouldn’t that gave an extra depth to ARTPOP, a depth that some fans complained it lacked in comparison to her previous cuts? Just food for thought.

This ! In the song he's literally taking the role of the rapist and metaphorically the role of the media. I didn't realize it then but she was (consciously ?) trying to make a link with her own trauma here.

I've always said that ARTPOP was so much deeper than what fans think.

The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!

Some of them, sure, but the majority are not. When are you guys gonna admit that?

Or she just invited Kelly, Terry and Ross because they were all slandered as rapists without evidence :rip: To me that makes a lot more ****ing sense.

This is possible.  People didn't know if there was indisputable proof of the allegations against R Kelly, and people can't act on rumors.    In Gaga's statement: “What I am hearing about the allegations against R Kelly is absolutely horrifying and indefensible,”   I also believe Tara.  People weren't sure at the time DWUW was produced..

I live outside the space time continuum.

It would be genius but it would also make her kinda heartless, with regards to R. Kelly and Rick Ross then :rip: And there's no way she would include Terry, one of her actual friends, as part of that scheme imo.

Anyway, if she did intentionally "frame" R. Kelly then that makes the song even more problematic than it already was. That means she kept quiet about his actions for far too long.

Who would’ve known this collab would’ve saved lives five years after its release?!

Without it, DWUW would literally cease to exist. Completely.

THANK THE LAWD :vegas:

Weird. How could she have known it was about sexual predators though lol, there's like nothing in the lyrics to suggest that.

Anyway, good milking of the situation, Xtina. Continue with your fake ass feminism, look-at-our-tits-but-don't-look-at-our-tits Fall in Line style :madge:

Edit: Read my next page explanation first before you @ me.

(No one in 2013 interpreted that song as being related to sexual predators. That song is 100% about the media and there is no subtext about sexual predators whatsoever. Gaga explained that lyric herself with reference to the cover art which was a statement against Kim K selling her body to the press.

Xtina's "you may have had my body" reinterpretation is bs, the whole point of that era was to give her body to the press (hence, the video), it wasn't a retrospect thing. Anyway, whatever. Smart of her to share in Gaga's moment but to me it's really tasteless.)

Girl stop being so negative.

But then you're implying that Gaga intentionally tricked R. Kelly into performing a song with her, unknowingly taking on the role of a rapist :smh: I mean, that would just be... :air: cruel.

or maybe she also told rkelly that the song has also a sexual abuse meaning and that he would play the role of the rapist (based on the allegations back then where there wasnt proof enough). therefore, he accepted to play that role as an “irony” because if he didnt, maybe it would create doubts and it would prove more that he actually is a sexual abuser.

If you don’t have any shadows, you’re not standing in the light.

OMG this has got me thinking!

What if Gaga chose Kelly and Terry to work with, so she could somehow mock them without them knowing? What if she chose them because she wanted to secretly be passive-aggressive? What if that was her way of coping? Gaga did say that her thinking was "twisted" during that time. Maybe she wanted the satisfaction from making Kelly and Terry look like fools, even if it's just her who acknowledges it?
