Michael Jackson is next.

With the whole media talking about the R.Kelly abuse allegations, I think it will be time soon where people will talk about Michael Jackson and his allegations of pedophilia as well. I heard there is a documentary coming out this year called "Leaving Neverland" which will show the people abused by Michael and how it has affected their lives. I think this will have a lot of negative attention on him as well, especially considering that it will be his 10 year death anniversary this year. My prediction is that there will be a massive public outcry to remove his music from youtube, streaming sites, radio and iTunes. It looks like it is heading in that direction for R.Kelly so I won't be surprised if it happens to Michael Jackson. His legacy will basically be destroyed. If we are going to treat one abuser in such a way, we can not become a hypocrite and let another celebrity of higher status get a free pass because they are iconic or whatever.

What are your opinions on this? Do you think my theory will come true?

R. Kelly's case didn't have the immense exposure MJ's case had, while he was still alive, so I think it won't be that massive. Because it was massive already. Plus, he's dead.

And to be honest I feel like the only place where this R. Kelly thing is blowing out of proportions is here :flop: but I'm not from the US and this is far from international news (unlike MJ), so maybe I'm wrong.

If he's next, good.

Time for people to start realizing that these celebs we always talk about are just random people. If we found out a neighbor tried to abuse kids, we would react very differently.

Still, his music is just music. I don't think we'll see his music disappear. Not relevant to the issue. DWUW was.

But didn’t he go to court and get cleared of all his allegations?

So did R Kelly

Sis.. Haven't people been talking about these allegations for thirty years?

He was proven innocent several times, and no evidence was ever supplied. Didn't the parents of the accusers admit that they lied for money and fame?

The documentary coming out on Michael is about Wade Robson who testified in court as an adult that he was NEVER abused by Michael Jackson.

Only after he didn't get hired to be the choreographer for Michael Jackson's Cirque Du Soleil did he suddenly remember being "abused" by Michael, even though he and his entire family sung Michael's praises for years after he died.

He tried to sue Michael's estate for 100 million and it got thrown out of court, so now he's doing a documentary for $$$ to pay back all his lawyers fees. It's BS and not comparable to R.Kelly's situation.

I dont think so. Michael had 2 trials and he was found not guilty. I dont remmember stories similar with R Kelly ones. He had some weird attitudes, but I dont think they were sexual.

I realize that a lot of members here are on the younger side, but these allegations were news when I was a kid in the 1990s. MJ spent decades of his career acknowledging this subject both musically and candidly in interviews.

If he is next I don’t think the backlash on him or his estate will be as big as R. Kelly’s. The reason for that is there seems to be a stronger sense of support for Michael Jackson than there was for R. Kelly before the series came out. The argument that Michael was being set up is a lot stronger than the argument that R. Kelly was set up. At least in the minds of people who talk about it on social media.
