Criticism is not “too much noise”. It’s ok to think all the things you say but she literally intended for it to be that way. The whole purpose of ARTPOP is to be noisy, for the vocals to blend with the electronic instrumentals, for the lyrics to show campy indifference mixed with a lot of hidden pain... and all of those things were achieved. It makes no sense for Aura not to be the first song of the album because it literally serves as an intro for what’s to come. She says in the song that she’ll show a little bit of her pain and vulnerability but it won’t come without a lot of ****ing noise and campiness. Dope is literally the one song where she strips all the way down and opens the darkest side of her. It’s like she peeled all of the layers and then puts them back together with Gypsy and closes it with Applause. In the end the message is that she uses literally everything she has, including her scars as performance art and goes away with the crowd cheering. That's an answer.. it's constructive and I respect it ! I believe that ARTPOP could've been better if it wasn't that noisy.. it's not a matter of taste. Born This Way was noisy, many of the songs sounded the same and her vocals were hardly recognizable... The point I want to make is that, she made the same mistake with ARTPOP, maybe I just can't understand why would she want to make a noisy album with vocals blend with electronic instrumental.. she admitted herself that it was Interscope's fault, if that's how she wanted to work, or her music to sound, both Joanne and ASIB pop songs would have sounded the same. Dope is an amazing track, I love how it fits with the end of the trackless just how you said.. She still had to create the lyrics, melodies and harmonies. Not every song starts from scratch like she did with TEOG (just an example)...(and tbh not everyone has the skills to do it, unlike our girl). Producers will send her their material all the time, specially Zedd and Madeon were quite new at the time. It helps the artists to decide the sound they’re going for with the album. It just happens that these two instrumentals were used before but it doesn’t make it less original. what if Redone had the BR instrumental before she had the lyrics to it ?
