ASIB: Popular Opinion or Unpopular Opinion?

So, the only thing that could have made this stunning film better, would be an extra 20 minutes of Ally and Jackson blooming in a relationship. I feel like it was rushed and we never saw the typical cute things that as a viewer can strengthen the desire for a happy ending. My saving grace is the Pre-Order coming out Tuesday. I pray there is a director’s cut or extended edition to include ITA and them on the rooftop writing songs... May Gaga be with us come Tuesday!

Hmm. Nope, don't agree. I totally believed their chemistry.

What we really needed was a Diggin' My Grave scene :madge:

I think what made their relationship work is that their romance was like a hurricane of a whirlwind. It was sudden and huge and glorious, which set the foundation for the rest of the film- for better and for worse.

A huge aspect of their relationship(s) is codependency, and learning to grow from and beyond it. The sudden rush of their relationship works in that aspect, in my opinion.

Within a short period of us seeing them together they got married, I just feel some scenes could have easily been added to extra adhesiveness 😭

I went back and forth on this honestly even the first time I saw the film.  It felt rushed in a way but not in a bad way. So to me, I think it works fine as it is but I understand your point.

To have added a few more scenes may have brought about a bit more depth but it could have also weighed it down too much. There is a very fine line there.

I bought the relationship, felt the magic and also had a moment of clarity regarding why it felt sort of rushed. This is Hollywood, this is fame and even off stage it's a fast paced world to be in. When you meet Ally she is kinda bouncing down that road after throwing away the trash just kinda there. Yes she does her own thing but it's at regular life speed.

So when she meets Jackson, it should click too fast. It should feel rushed because that's the kind of life he has been in for so long.

So with that in mind, I think it's as it should be.

The only thing that felt rushed to me was the wedding part. Like, we dont even know how much time they were together. But apart from that, all is good to me

Honestly I would like a Before I Cry scene. I love that song so much.

Ikr. They rushed many interesting parts but gave us the long ass rehab scene where Bradley was crying and gosh I've never wanted a scene to end so quick. It felt like 50 minutes.

I agree with your post. Totally loved the film but pacing, for me, was an issue. I think the reports alluding to this, before the film's release, were totally true. ASIB is a fantastic film - but it's pacing is all over the place.

Longer yes, but mostly to expand on Jacksons motivations and background into his depression to make that part of the story more believable.
