What impactful things has Gaga done that makes you proud of her?

On a more positive note, I decided I would make a thread to commemorate the world changing things Gaga has done during her career in the wake of her apologizing for her past wrongdoing with R. Kelly.

One of my favorite things about Gaga is her compassion for the gay community. Although white pop stars being an ally to the LGBTQIA community isn't anything new, Gaga's campaigning against "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and her song Born This Way really solidified herself as a beacon of hope for the gay community that would always take the extra step for equality. The Born This Way foundation was also created to inspire bravery for our youth and to provide safe spaces for victims of bullying and abandonment. Gaga also went on to team up with MAC to raise over $160 million to fight against AIDS and HIV.

What are some of your favorite things?

In addition to what you've already said regards her support to the LGBTQ community, I am most proud of how Gaga has shone a bright light on mental health. As an A-List celebrity in the industry, to speak so candidly about her struggles, I think, is incredibly bold and inspiring.

If Lady Gaga - one of the world's most 'confident' performers - can have her own anxieties, it suddenly makes it easier to understand just how widespread the epidemic of bad mental health truly is.

Yes! I absolutely love this speech too.

This speech at the Monster Ball. It may not be as big as other things she's done but when I heard this live, it really gave me so much confidence (as corny as it sounds) :diane:

The speech she gave at the Emotional Revolution changed my life. When she talked about learning to say “ no” I was shocked. It seems like such a simply solution that I should’ve done years before, but it made me realize that so much of what I do is constantly say “yes” and do things for others while disregarding my own happiness. Ever since then I’ve grown more confident because I have become my own person by doing what I want to do, by saying “no” to things I don’t want to do.

I would say a mix of her LGBTQIA+ activism, her advocacy for those who suffer from poor mental health, and just in general how she speaks of what is important to her in her music, whether it be pride, sexual assault, family, etc.

Building onto this, you shouldn't have to explain yourself for saying no either. At the end of the day you have to take care of yourself and your mental health. I've caught myself so many times scrambling to come up with a perfect excuse as to why I can't do something.

idk, everything she does. her hard work, talent, vision making her such a succesful artist. i remember when she first came out, it was a shame to be her fan because she was just a “crazy untalented bitch or man with just a few hits” for many people around me but as the years passed she showed her talent and lots of haters shut up. eventhough there still are people who hate her, most of the gp acknowledges her talent. her road to the success is very inspiring for me eventhough im quite lazy:selena:

Obviously I love that she's stood up for the gay community, bullying and mental health.

But I also loved the speech during the Artrave when she spoke about creativity and said you don't need a record label. Something along the lines of all you need is a canvas and a brush. It was really empowering at the time and I love the fact she has inspired more people to make their own art. Nobody else has inspired their fans in the same way.
