Some of the best art is born of the darkest places, you don’t just delete it retrospectively. This isn’t in the spirit of a true artist and she has disappointed me by doing what’s expected by the tabloids.

I disagree with this part of your post. I don't think being an artist means you should stand by everything you make all the time. That would be foolish. People shift, gain new perspectives, feel regret. I don't really buy Gaga here, but yeah. I just think sometimes it's okay to admit you made something that you probably shouldn't have.

I read on Pop Justice that R. Kelly has writing credits on all versions so odds are they are all disappearing from iTunes and streaming platforms.

yeah he's credited on the XTina version too

I believe her. 2013 was indeed a dark time for her, and I can understand working with R. Kelly as an act of defiance. I'm happy she finally addressed the issue, now hopefully we can all move on and stop talking about it.

I mean I love DWUW (I still listen to it) but there's the Xtina version and/or she could always work with someone else and make a new one.

Am I the only one shook that we won't have the official copy of the original song available to us soon?! I admire her and all that but THE R KELLY VERSION WILL DISAPPEAR FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH.

It's my favorite version of the song I am freaking out. It's such a masterpiece. The commentary of three artists working on a project (Terry included) who are publicly crucified for their controversies. It's the ultimate FU. Now it's gone.

Again, I'm glad with her statement. It's the removal of her art that I'm freaking out about.

I’m sure there will be accounts that keep it alive on YouTube.

Im going to have to add this to moments Gaga made you cry thread. Her response is amazing. Now hopefully we can move on from this. (In terms of Gaga’s association with him, we should still support his victims.)

Great response. It seems there are two ways to win these things PR wise. Say nothing like Beyonce. Or wait, take your time, and think of something intelligent like Taylor Swift. Both ways work. LG chose the latter.

Haters are gonna start the"oh she just wants an Oscar".

My second favourite song off ARTPOP :cryga:

But I am proud of her and she did word her statement very well. I just wish she was able to remove that version, put her solo version, and explain what the meaning of the song really is. But, I do get it’s for the greater good. I just love the song :icega:

:selena: I just... I love DWUW and if she’s gonna take it away maybe she could put in one of the “100 songs” she made for the album.

Man...it's wild that only SHE had to speak up. Why did everyone pressure only her to do it? There are countless others who worked with him who haven't said anything yet. I'm glad she said something but I knew there will still be people complaining. Poor thing...

R.Kelly is one of the greatest r&b artists of all time, its a loss for Gaga. :excuseu:

Atleast now young millennials and the fortenight/tidepod generation can let go off their animosity towards Gaga. :smh:

I'm dissapointed in Gaga, how about you call out Terry Richardson? Ofc you won't tho, since your label wants to please white America and take down black men with series of crimes over a white man with the same series of crimes. :excuseu:

Mariah Carey and other artists will keep their music with R.Kelly because he's an actual legend, but you do you sis. I still have it on CD :huntyga:

I mean... I get your point but she’s not the first one speaking out about it. Both John Legend and Chance The Rapper has spoken strongly against R Kelly already.
