LGMonster95 13,704
To be honest, the whole 2013 was a dark time for her after she broke her hip and people from her stuff left her, something triggered her on that time. I'm really proud of her now
Dutch 90,597
I’m kinda mad that she had to go through this trauma again, especially after this post where she explains how she regrets things and how she had to go through therapy to heal. But now everybody can finally stop talking about this and leave the past behind. Enough is enough. Let the woman heal or even beter stay healed. I’m proud of her, she’s one of the most brave, kind and vocal artists in this industry ever.

hpmcmill 1,979
So glad she finally put out a statement and a great one as well. I was disappointed that she hadn’t and have always been bothered by her initial decision to ever work with him. Sad to hear she was in such a dark place that she chose to work with him in the context that she did. Hopefully the media will be kind to this response. She owned up to her mistake and promised to do better while providing background on why she did it. Of course, supporting the victims first and foremost. To those saying that she shouldn’t have said anything, I do NOT think that would have been beneficial in this case. American media would have tore her up and now is NOT the time for that while she’s at a career high. It was on the homepage of CNN earlier today. Happy to see Engima next week where this won’t be in the back of my mind!!!

Her explanation about her mental state is interesting, however. Let’s not pretend R. Kelly didn’t have crazy allegations against him before. Crazy to think she purposefully collaborated for an associated reason. To be ‘defiant.’ I never really quite understood why she simulated oral sex on SNL. Now we know exactly why, all for shock and a middle finger to the world. I mean, we know the song is about criticism from the world (media and public), but the mental state she was in was even deeper than what I thought it was. I love the song, yes, even with knowing everything about R. Kelly. Don’t know how I feel about it being removed from everywhere. For some reason, she believed him, trusted him and respected him. Sometimes things like that don't make sense. It was all very complicated and traumatic... yeah, it would've been great if she'd said something earlier - but life isn't like that, especially when it comes to issues that are so interwoven with ourselves. Either way, it's a step forward for her and Kelly's victims. I'm thinking of them now..
howiet1971 20
Guys; at what point are some of you going to simply admit she is reacting to public pressure. She DEFENDED R Kelly in 2013 when questioned about their collab. He was a known paedo then, and to say 'I was in a bad place' is absurd! I've been in bad places but never defended a paedo! To say you are proud of her for removing the song, come on, open your eyes, don't be such sheep. She has done this so it doesn't affect her Oscar chances as she won't want this 'scandal' to blow up before the awards.

This is a sad day for me. She really wants that Oscar and everyone on her side. Some of the best art is born of the darkest places, you don’t just delete it retrospectively. This isn’t in the spirit of a true artist and she has disappointed me by doing what’s expected by the tabloids. You don’t just delete a song in your discography due to some allegations made against a featured artist. It’s obvious she wants nothing to do with provocation or controversy anymore. The Lady Gaga we once knew is dead tbh. I’m still a huge fan, but this has disappointed me.

She is not going to let a song she regrets making from 6 years ago ruin her chances of an Oscar or damage her career again when she has worked so hard to be on top again. Back then, a lot of the controversy around him was just talk and I doubt she was much involved with him other than writing the song and performing it etc. Is she supposed to do a background check on every single person she works with and not work with them because of unproven accusations? You could just forgive her, realised she acknowledge her mistakes and move on. Damned if she does damned if she doesn’t.

You are missing the point; if he wasn't a known Paedo at the time they worked together, then you would be right. But he was. She worked with him fully aware of his reputation and still defended him. This is why people are reacting to it (and did then.)
