My heart breaks for her, she didn’t deserve all the pressure from a song released five years ago.

This is also sad because, apart from R Kelly, DWUW is a brilliant song with a strong message, and it’ll be sad to see it go

but I’m happy she’s spoken up about it and explained everything. I love her for this.

It just makes me sad that she looks back at her younger self as being "explicitly twisted in (her) thinking" because even though it was a dark time, I think she was still incredibly smart and full of integrity...but now she's kind of dismissing her former self like "oh I was crazy back then" therefore everything she did at the time was stupid, or something? It kills me thinking that she hates herself for doing something she loved at the time, when she really was just expressing herself...and it's her right to. Does anyone agree with me/get what I'm saying?

DWUW is arguably one of the most meaningful tracks on ARTPOP - it was about resilience for goodness' sake! About how the media can say anything about you but they will never own you!! Now that she's removing it everywhere...it kind of defeats the purpose of the song. It's more just the fact that his vocals are featured on it...

I'm so proud of her for saying something, but I don't know why but the extra move to get rid of it just messes me up. Like I can't believe she has to remove a piece of her art from the world because of someone else's mistake...it just breaks my heart. :messga:

Removing the song is a bold statement, she clearly feels super strongly about this. I wonder if she will replace it with the solo version or remove it all together. Props to her for this statement.

To be clear, I am not disregarding her decision to remove the song, I fully support her decision and am proud of her for making such a bold statement.

R Kelly has a writing credit on every version of the song (solo and xtina too) . The song may completely disappear or he'll keep making money even if his vocals are not on the song. Maybe they'll find a way to remove him from the credits, we know Gaga is very generous with it..

I hope she means just the video... not the whole ARTPOP era which was amazing... if that means that the crazy lady Gaga is over... then RIP Gaga.

Shame on all of you focusing on the fact you like the song/want other versions released. That mindset let kelly and many others in this industry get away with terrible, unspeakable things. That’s how he got away with this for a quarter century, thats how these terrible people get away with things- because value of the product is higher than the moral standard of saying no this is not okay. This is a topic that in recent days especially has devided us gaga fans; but she’s denounced it and said it was wrong so let’s all get on that side of it. She’s got literally hundreds of songs we can dance our gay little asses off to, we dont need this one

Great job, Gaga!

I think it's kind of disappointing that "DWUW" got thrown under the bus completely, rather than R. Kelly's involvement in it, because I think it is actually a brilliant and, yes, defiant feminist anthem. Just listen to the Xtina version, and it's a ****ing empowerment bop that celebrates in spite of the oppression and pain she can't escape.

I agree with you, it makes me kind of angry at her every time she does this, and it isn't the first or second or third time she talks badly or demeans the ARTPOP era. :madge:

You're the one that sounds pretentious, calling people names for voicing opinions, not even negative opinions, just opinions. A lot of projecting going in here if you ask me

So, is the original ARTPOP vinyl about to become legendary or a collector's item, or...?

seems like the most famous example of a new trend in art and music, which is expunging violent or serially abusive artists' work from the canon and archive.
