Lord Temptation 11,209
The Academy represents artists (thousands of them ). The HFPA represents jouno’s (less than 100 in a room )
angelduuh 491
I don't think it's a disaster and we should be grateful she won and tbh it's the one that she really deserves. After all Gaga is mostly a singer and it doesn't matters if she wins or not. She probably get the Oscar for Shallow and it's what she deserves. vitoburrrito 649
I personally think that Gaga winning for best actress (or even getting nominated) at the Oscars is still a reach, despite the amount of press and praise. I think the only thing she may have a chance at winning at the Oscars is for Best Original Song (which would be a major accomplishment), but even that will be tough considering the fact that songs from Black Panther and Suspiria and other movies have received a lot of praise as well. I would love Gaga to win an Oscar, but I think her chances of winning are and have always been small, regardless of how the Golden Globes went. PSYCHOSHTICK 2,845
I love how predicting and betting on Gaga winning an Oscar or not is the gay version of football.

MichealScott 753
We’ll have to wait until the SAG awards because those who’s win there are usually very good indicators of who will at the Oscars. Gaga and ASIB even getting nominated for the SAG awards is impressive, being that it’s Gaga’s first time leading and Bradley’s first time directing. So this at least means that actors and others in the industry appreciate what they did and how they performed. In all honesty, the Globes usually only indicate who will be nominated for the Oscars and not who will win, this can be seen when Anthony Hopkins who lost to Nick Nolte (nominated at Oscars) at the Globes but won at the Oscars and when Lupita Nyong’o lost to Jennifer Lawrence (nominated at Oscars) at the Globes but won at the Oscars. Lupita went on to win at the SAG awards and then at the Oscars. The latter was in the supporting category, but it still shows that the Oscars often choose differently than the Globes. I also want to say that choosing Glenn may not be the popular choice but I think she did very well in The Wife and her accpetence speech was very respectable and she seemed very respectable to Gaga as well. I also think there is still a very strong chance ASIB will get nominated at the Oscars, Gaga especially, but a win might be a reach. We need to look at the award show realistically because they are known for awarding those who have been in the business a very long time and the fact that Gaga might get nominated for a major category on her first film is something to be happy and proud of. It’s also an honor to have Gaga be nominated with actors of such high caliber. I think Shallow has the Best Original Song on lock though, which is very exciting. So this is a really hard blow. I don't think Gaga nor ASIB have a chance at Oscar wins anymore, Bradley should overcome his loss tonight, though. BR was much, much more poppy than ASIB. Regardless of whether she wins an Oscar for acting or for music, she's still have an Oscar. None of her contemporaries (as far as I can remember) could say the same.
