How will tonight’s disaster affect ASIB’s overall Oscar potential?

I mean, the film took absolutely no acting or film related awards home tonight, Mark & Gaga won for the song. 

Given that ASIB is/was a major contender to snatch across the season, tonight’s sluggish outcome might be just a fluke? Or it might forecast the Oscar ceremony, (where just song wins, if at all)

I hate to say it and I could be wrong, but aren't the Golden Globe winners somewhat indicative of the Oscar winners? I would've assumed Gaga/ASIB might snag some Globes and others would get the Oscars.

I know a lot of people say „Yes but she won for the song“. Yeah that’s great, and I am sure she is happy. But what a lot of people didn’t really realize is that the movie itself didn’t win A SINGLE award.

What concerns the Oscars. Well, let’s say if ASIB would have won some awards tonight for the movie itself, maybe there could have been chances. But a movie wich won (almost) NOTHING at the GG will have a hard time at the Oscars.

But the question I am asking myself much more is: How could the experts be THAT wrong? They saw ASIB in the lead for ALL the big categories and now this. That’s what does not going in my mind

But OP, I think the chances are getting very low now. Sadly... BUT we should continue show our support and still hope the movie will win its well deserved award

(But what we should not forget HFPA people DONT Vote for the Oscars...so)

People usually say that GG awards the more poppy films, such as ASIB over, for say, Roma or The Wife. So this is a really hard blow. I don't think Gaga nor ASIB have a chance at Oscar wins anymore, Bradley should overcome his loss tonight, though.

You'll have to wait until the SAG Award winners are out, but I'm pretty sure the Bohemian Rhapsody triumph is gonna leave the Academy unimpressed and they'll not even nominate Rami for his acting. She's still the top contender for Best Original Song tho.

I think we should take tonight as an indication of how the Ocars will go down. As much as there have been instances were the GG and the Oscars widely disagree on their wins, that does not change the fact that Gaga and Bradley´s competitions are very strong. If they continue to lose the SAG awards its very much over.

They always say that the GG are just a warming up and a less serious version of the Oscars, so yeah. Gaga getting nominated or even winning for best actress was a reach and we all agreed on that before the rave reviews came out.

You gotta remember that the Golden Globes have a Jury of 93 people from the HFPA whilst the Oscars has 60,000 from the AMPAS.
