holy scheisse 22,299
Here's the thing though --> I don't think Gaga has any personal intimate knowledge of his history or the truth behind the allegations. She just worked with him. And so she has nothing to gain that's positive by talking about collaborating w/ him if she knows nothing scandalous anyhow. 2School4Cool 6,449
I think it is important to remember Gaga herself is a victim of sexual assault. She is not only a victim, but she has been very outspoken against sexual assault. On the same album as DWUW with R Kelly is Swine, a song about her rape. The following year we heard Til It Happens To You paired with her work with Joe Biden, performing with survivors of sexual assault on stage, sharing her experience to help others. She would not work with Kelly if she felt at the time he was guilt of his accusations, whether she fully knew about them or not. Also, we don’t know what Gaga was asked to discuss. Questlove declined because he was asked to discuss Kelly’s “genius” and he didn’t want to do that. It could be the same with Gaga. That J 12,166
People have nothing better to do than to sit back and say what they think someone else should be doing. I dont need her to ever comment on the situation and she shouldn't be forced to do so. When you have gone through the pain of sexual assault sometimes ya just dont want to talk about it or be around the topic anymore. So I say leave Gaga alone. Eggsy 8,280
If this documentary had come out in 2017 no one would care about her past collaboration.. Only now that she is on top is she being criticized.. 2019 is starting of swell huh.
ARTPOPRS 1,431
If anyone wants to bring back DWUW from 6 years ago they should bring back TIHTY from 4 years ago too.
Chickens in Malibu 7,873
I think Gaga was mislead by irresponsible people in her team. DJ White Shadow is one of them. He's the one who brought up this idea and helped write this messy concept. Gaga's mistake is not taking action against the people who brought this hell upon her. She should've ditched DJWS and admitted that it was his idea and that it was a mistake.
Gardevoir 9,877
What would she say about him? "Oh I recorded on episode song with him I regret it". I'm 99% sure she has no insight on his life and actions and past. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
VenusBlackStar 1,301
Literally none of us know the extent of her association with him before, during, or after the song, so why are people dragging her? Celine Dion did "I'm Your Angel" with him years ago. Are people dragging her too?
fivefoottwo 3,108
The thing is, Gaga is always gonna be on the losing end of this - if she declined, she would get backlash for choosing not to speak up on the issue; and if she accepted the offer, she would get backlash for making the issue about herself (cue Rich white woman who profited with R. Kelly now wants to take attention away from his young POC victims rhetoric). Either way she loses, so I'm just glad she's choosing the path where she doesn't involve herself from the beginning. At the end of the day Gaga is a grown woman who should have known better. But she made a mistake. But you guys have to stop making up stories to defend her by throwing the blame off to the people in her life. Edit: Turns out I'm booboo the fool and the good sis was right. Twitter 14
She was going to get called out anyways due to her collaboration with him.
gumzy3000 7,379
I honestly think it was a horrible move of her to collab with him in the first place especially knowing that his history of abuse is well known in the media. It is sad but it will definitely leave a small mark on her career. It's sad because DWUW is actually a great song too with a great message. trolly troll troll

Don't come for me "Blair recalled how in 2011 his friend Martin was playing him a particular beat from his own remix project. Blair liked the music and presented it to Gaga who had begun writing the song's lyrics while on the Born This Way Ball tour. Blair described its beat as "some space age George Jetson R&B sound".[6] After the lyrics were completed in September 2013, Blair suggested bringing Kelly on board as a collaborator. " "“It kinda stayed on a back burner for a minute and then we were talking around a month ago. I was like ‘You know who would sound good on this? R. Kelly’ and she said ‘Yes!’ So I called him up and put them on the phone together literally like 10 minutes later. Then we just made it happen. It is two writing/singing geniuses on one track. Seemed logical to me.” https://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/celebrity/chi-lady-gaga-r-kelly-do-what-u-want-20131021-column.html
