I appreciate that Ellen did this and I fully agree with what she said. This witch hunt against people's past is stupid, pointless, and irritating. What does digging up what someone said 10 years ago do for anyone? Absolutely nothing. I'm not saying that what he said wasn't insensitive, stupid, or hurtful, because what he said was wrong. That being said, you are doing nothing by bringing up his past. He's grown, he's changed, and there is nothing you can do about the past. If y'all want to fight homophobia, fight it where it counts instead of using what someone said 10 years ago against them. Y'all defended James Gunn when his tweets were dug up (trust me, I remember because I used to be one of those people that vehemently went after Gunn), so why are y'all now attack Hart? Ppl on this site are extremely unforgiving I've noticed. Not many believe in second chances or people changing He already apologized for this in the past multiple times he should not have to continue doing it a decade later
2School4Cool 6,463
First of all, Kevin Hart deserves respect. His tweets were wildly offensive, but I do think he is in a better place now and is no longer homophobic, and it is important to realize that people can change. People’s opinions grow and change and evolve, and it is not fair nor understandable to hold someone to standards based on a comment from 10 years ago. I do think he should say the words “I’m sorry to those offended and to the LGBTQ+ community,” and I’m not defending his past actions or saying he’s handled this perfectly, but we shouldn’t hold him to this forever. As for Ellen, she uses her platform to spread kindness and love, which is so important. Let’s just remember she probably knows more about this situation than any of us as she knows Kevin personally, and we do not. FarixGaga 15,552
His narrative is beyond dumb and at this point I start thinking he's doing all this to get the hosting gig back along with his turned clean reputation by playing the victim, when he CLEARLY is not. Recap: the Academy after the backlash asked him to make an apology so that he could keep being the host. It was one simple condition that probably everyone would have fulfilled JUST to keep your 'dream job' as he calls it. He DOES (kinda) apologize in that tweet (even tho he first posted a cocky and inappropriate video the day before in which he DID NOT apologize) BUT at the same time he gives up on hosting. I mean, you just did what the Academy asked you to do in order to remain the host, you do it, but at the same time you quit. Make it make sense, man. In the end, it's just that he is too full of himself to just apologize and move one (and who f*cking cares he did already 10 years ago, as if everyone has been following this guy for every single step he made over the last decade). @ Academy : just choose another host or go with a no-host show, both decisions would be for the best at this point. AJK273 2,700
Sis is reducing people in her own community who are upset at seeing a big hollywood star be praised and praised when he has a history and a past of homophobic jokes and a past of using homophobic slurs to "haters". Seriously of all people ellen should have been the one to ring him up on it. Messy, Petty, Beautiful, Covergirl
ItWasntLaauv 6,392
Didn’t he already get replaced as the host, what about the person/people who took on that role, are they just gonna be fired for no good reason or...?
Adakam 2
The way people draw lines with sensitive stuff is very disturbing. So Kevin said those things 10 years ago, apologized and all should be good. Kevin Spacey did the things he did decades ago and his career is now destroyed. Trump said the grab em by the *** line in 2005, he dismissed it as locker room talk and half the country didnt care. I know its different subjects and actions, but still, where is the line? When is it ok to dig someone's past and when is it not? Should I forgive Kevin for those tweets and believe he changed and doesnt stand by those words anymore? But I shouldnt forgive people like Brett Kavanaugh who was accused but not proven guilty? Society confuses me.

To my knowledge they still haven’t found someone to replace him yet. I’ve been confused about it too though, so I understand your point.
