The 116th Congress begins and the Democrats have taken control of the House Now, there is at least a little more hope for those with liberal ideals and/or those who do not like Trump. This is the first time in 8 years that Democrats will control the house Nancy Pelosi will become the Speaker of the House and the 2nd person in line to the presidency (Pence, then Pelosi). This will be Nancy's 3rd Congress as Speaker of the House. She was the Speaker for the 110th and 11th Congress (2007-2011) She will be the 6th person to regain control as Speaker of the House. There will be 235 Democrats in the House and 199 Republicans in the House. There is still one seat that is contested (it's a complete mess with accusations of voter fraud.) 102 women will be apart of the congress.
