There is a good legato here, still She has a bit tendency to start the tone from under, which is normal in pop stars. I do a similar thing, except I start from below, go up and then come down to the right spot. I think it's cute. Also, she's been coming down from up pitch wise more recently. Think of Hair, Body, Face. "Trying" in "trying to leave here" and "sayin that if I care" - she hits a higher note for like a sixteenth or 32nd before coming down. Just remembered Super Bowl BR performance (which was so athletic, god knows how she sings like that). She shifted her style between two lines. "You know that I want you, and you know that I need you." was very light. Then suddenly a dark, heavy, and dramatic, "I want it BAD, your BAD romance." We all do .. its a daily reminder, in fact my warm up is all around it. Like me, She closes the throat, and doesnt let the air Come out...ends up letting air get in... Messes the whole cycle. Thats why phrasing and thinking the line and not each note makes a whole difference. Lool rant over, but now that in early music this has never been so important. I just realized i dont know body hair that well. Flop Superbowl is a compendium of why gaga is amazing.
SS77 1,991
Figured I’d bump this thread because of the appropriate topic, instead of making a new one. Just wanted to point out that at tonight’s Jazz and Piano show, “Paparazzi” was performed at the original album key for the first time since the early dates of the artRave

Nope! haha Paparazzi at Enigma shows are performed at the same key she performed it in early 2009 (before she lowered it even more in the summer), and at the artRave and Joanne tours
AJRocketMan 2,684
Actually, despite people’s perceptions, she always could hit the high notes. In the studio version she hit the Eb5 in her Falsetto, whereas live she chose not to do it at all or belt it instead. I’m guessing it was because she didn’t like the way her Falsetto sounded. And she couldn’t always belt that high either, in the beginning especially. It’s not hard to see that her singing wasn’t that great in her early career (2008-2010, especially in 2009). She got better with Born This Way and onwards, as she could belt higher notes in her chest voice (Marry the Night E5’s) and was finally comfortable with sometimes using her her head voice (You and I w/ Sugarland). With Born This Way Ball and onwards, it’s more of a matter of choice, since with ARTPOP she’s sung songs in a higher tessitura and has hit higher notes (F#5 in Do What U Want). So she “saves” her voice for the more vocally demanding songs.

If you have any special performances you can remember, please PM them, I've really lost my memory of those special dates where she did amazingly. 😭 OMG, I thought I was the only one You should watch the Paparazzi performance from January 21 2010 (Radio City Hall) It was the only Monsterball 1.0 date where she went for the "Superstar you know that I'll be!!" adlib in the final chorus

Doot 2
Combo of two things: 1. Her vocal ability has drastically changed and improved since she began due to co scantly working on it with her vocal coach but also your voice does tend to change a bit as you age. 2. 99% of what you hear on studio songs simply requires the person standing still or sitting on a stool in a studio. She doesn’t have to be moving around, plus songs are spliced together versions of multiple multiple takes. Paparazzi (the song) wasn’t just a straight through take. Guaranteed that each verse probably came from a different take.
Gardevoir 9,816
Im sorry but she never sang paparazzi live the way she sings it on album version. Her voice got drastically lower at the start of The fame era. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

So sad that she is losing the ability to hit those high notes. Maybe more practice? What are you even talking about? Where have we seen her “heavy drinking” in the last few years? At which point did you count her number of drinks, frequency or BAL?
That J 12,166
I've always thought it sounded better when she drops the key down than doing the album version. The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw

She recorded paparazzi around her red and blue days. Just watch her live performances as stefani germanotta and you’ll see that she’s had that girlie voice back then. Her voice is more mature now and is in different scale. She’s growing vocally more and more throughout recent years and she can hit a lot of high notes, but that doesn’t mean that she can go back to her girlie voice back when she was 17 and her high notes will not sound like paparazzi studio version. Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
