I became a fan in 2011, but never got to see gaga live until the artRAVE, and it was a night I will never ever forget. My favorite thing about ARTPOP is how unique it is. It’s the farthest thing from stereotypical, cookie cutter pop, so it’s always felt like a breath of fresh air to me. I couldn’t honestly care less about the unkept promises because I’m thankful for the amazing things that came with the era. The tour, the music, everything. I love that this album was truly crafted to be what it was. Every beat, lyric, note, is there for a reason and it was truly designed to, as gaga says, send you on an adrenaline rush. I love every minor detail, including the references to past songs (“married to the night” in Fashion! and “I don’t speak German but I try” in Gypsy). This whole era for me really sums her up as an artist and seeing it develop - the hardship of her management issues and breakdown of ARTPOP as a concept (e.g. visual album, app updates, act ii), but it ultimately still being a very strong album despite its struggle makes me happy!
