Fanbase Rant

Featured Posts

I feel like Gaga was once a symbol for creative misfits and outcasts, is now branded as someone who only makes gay music, and Is probably her downfall from number 1. After Vegas, It’s likely Gaga will be in Broadway because she’s literally been saying it from day 1.

I can only assume, but the idea of all these comments about whether she's coming out with new music is that they want her to reach this level of “stardom” #1 pop star. The way the music industry is right now, rap is the new pop. The online fanbase seems constantly disappointed,  and
I think it’s time for these people to maybe prioritize someone else like Ariana Grande.

Gaga has said many times in interviews that Joanne was written for moms. Gaga knows she's been branded as someone who makes gay music and once you're stuck in this role of only making one thing, you don’t grow as an artist. Gaga is fighting hard to leave that behind and her own fan base is holding her back from not only what Gaga actually wants to do, but becoming the megastar she's meant to be.

Sorry to the one person who might read this lul.

I will say, to the rest of the world (meaning those who aren’t stans) she is at a new career peak right now. It’s just not in the same way as 2010-11 Gaga, which is fine. She is proving herself with her acting and versatility. Sure, she hasn’t had a number one single in a long time, but her albums always chart at number one. And in all honesty, that’s not what’s important to her, nor is it to me. What’s important is that she is proving her versatility to the world. She was once misunderstood and branded as the over the top pop girl who sings about disco sticks and goes “rah rah” and wears meat. But now she is globally known as singer, songwriter, and actress who has conquered the pop world and shown her vocal ability singing with Tony Bennet. Joanne recieved amazing critical acclaim and it showed the whole world she can cross genres and do it amazingly. Gaga doesn’t care about commercial success, she wants to branch out and do things she’s passionate about, and I am on board for the ride wherever it takes us next.

Wait what classifies as gay music :duck: are you referring to the Born This Way era where she was more outspoken or the fact that she has a huge following of gay fans

also TIL Dancin’ In Circles is a soccer mom anthem :poot:

I think the problem with Gaga is that she is not as interesting as she used to be (In terms of music, outfits, etc). I mean, ASIB was awesome and some of the songs she had in it were great but nothing outstanding. I did not have a WOW moment in this era like I did during the BTW or ARTPOP era. I think Gaga is an artist who has so much talent and I do think she can make a great pop album so I do not know why she's not. You can make smart, creative pop music that is not only labeled as gay music... Madonna did it with Ray of Light and Confessions on a Dancefloor, when will Gaga?

I would argue that Gaga is doing exactly what she wants to. Vegas is notoriously famous for being a destination where artists go to die. She recognized that and completely transformed the idea of a Vegas residency.

Sure, fans may be disappointed by her constant shift (a la Joanne to ASIB to Enigma) but she's been doing this for years now, ever since ARTPOP. One of the greatest things about Gaga is that there is an era, a piece of art, a song, or a project for literally everyone. She's so multi-faceted that she can appeal to so many different people.

Tbh, I don't think her focus is being a popstar anymore. It's being a global superstar, with talents and works in every facet possible.

This thread is so all over the place, I don't understand the main idea. :messga: And the way people act like "gay music" is an actual genre.

I guess that's the point... she doesn't want to 'only' be a pop-star. Gaga wants to be a genre-transgressive-artist who is constantly re-defining what it means to be an artist today. And I guess that's why she hasn't released another 'iconic' pop album, because, well, she's already done it.

And this doesn't mean she isn't ever going to release another 'pop album' - but I do think it means that she will never release another TFM / BTW-esque record again. She will never release a typical pop album... but she will, and I think in the near future, release an album of 'contemporary', 'commercial' music, but it will not be typically pop. Think more electronic, more pc-music.

I guess if you want to stan an artist who is constantly going to release hits, pop music and records that are all 'in-keeping' with said artist's 'brand', then you should look to an artist like Ariana Grande for example, someone who does what she does very well. But what she 'does' is not what Gaga 'does' and that's why she doesn't release music that some of the die-hard-pop-fans are waiting for.

I agree. Numerous times during the Joanne era this exact statement was addressed. Gaga can do what she wants, she can write Bad Romance part II and have another global smash, but that’s not what she wants, that bores her, and the truth is it would eventually bore her fans as well.
