I'm a liberal.

But using tear gas to prevent illegal crossing is not against human rights or anything to be honest.

It was happening under Obama's presidency.

Overwhelming immigration is never the solution. Right now the asylum system is so overwhelmed that real asylum seekers like LGBT members from countries where being gay is punishable by prison or death etc... can't get their claims heard for up to 4 years.

During those years, their life is simply up in the air. They only have short term employment authorizations (hard to find employers who accept those, so they remain jobless for a while), can't visit their families etc...

So the U.S really shouldn't take more people in than it can handle. It'll hurt those same immigrants that it's taking.

I have to agree with you 100%. As much as we would like to help everyone,  I want to make sure that they are only taking legitimate asylum seekers and within our services and budget to assist and assimiliate to the country. 

It's like if you have a house in a destitute area,  you only feed the first few number of homeless people asking for help and if there are over 50 homeless people asking for food, you can't feed them all and you have to say no at some point. 

We CANT have open borders and we CANT let them all in because trust me,  everyone will camp at the borders if they think they can get in like that. 

It is in the rules that you apply asylum on the FIRST country you Cross.  Basically, the legitimate asylum seekers are the ones from Mexico.  But then some of them are not even from Mexico or our bordering countries.

What I do ask for them is a better treatment for the people whose papers are being processed or are in their care.  I do know first hand how long it takes for paperworks to be processed.

what are they supposed to do? let anyone and everyone come in? if thats the case then whats the use of passports/visas etc.... in my country if people from another country like pakistan tried to sneak in they will probably be shot cuz chances are they might be terrorists. This wall makes a lot more sense now tbh. Dems were unable to fix this issue in 8 years of Obama... trump should be allowed to have his way.

Have u research how much a wall will cost and how much itll be to upkeep on in hard working tax money?

I’ll answer that: No. 

Trump’s border wall is idiotic. More border security is fine, that is a bipartisan agreement. 

There is already a fence in key zones of the border. 

Not to mention many undocumented immigrants in the US are here by overstaying their visas.

But for the ignorant a big wall is the simple solution.

I think the wall just fans his ego a lot as a compensation.

It's like being the Emperor who built the great wall of China.  He wants to be a President that made the wall happen and have a lasting shameful architecture taint US history. This perhaps is one of the single most selfish and egotistical things he has decided on JUST to sate his ego. 

It's like Trump tower but only horizontal.

Let's get rid of borders then. So that the entire world population can just come here if "they seek protection".

I mean this is the kind of stuff that get people like trump elected tbh...

Had democrats and liberal been reasonable on immigration and against "open border" BS, they would've kept winning every election. Yes I'm all for asylum. But letting everyone in, hurts people who need asylum the most, since their cases get stuck in the system forever since it's overloaded, and it ruins their lives.

Mexico is not designated as a “safe third world country” by the United States. Therefore, Mexico is not under the guidelines you are referring to. 

These individuals have every right to apply for asylum in the United States. They may well be denied, but they have a legal right to apply.

If these guys seek protection why don't they seek asylum in Mexico. Asylum law states that you must seek asylum in the first country you enter.

I don't think they really seek protection. They are coming here for more economic reasons. And quite frankly, asylum is meant to help people whose lives are in danger, again, like LGBT members who are threatened by imprisonment or death in their home countries, not people who are looking for a job and a better life.
