Back to Basics is so underrated. It paved the way for Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Lana Del Rey. Christina has never, ever been a trend chaser.

Tell me about it.

Her whole 'Baby Jane' image was so original.

Too bad she didn't get the credit she deserved with that album.

Yes, it was so refreshing to see a pop artist reference Hollywood glamour for once.

I think it's interesting that Christina released an album where she was half-machine on the cover with a lead single that referenced Express Yourself (in the video) a year before Gaga released an album where she was half-machine on the cover with a lead single that referenced Express Yourself (in the song itself). Hmm.

Well I think Gaga keeps a close eye on Christina or at least use to when she was more popular.

Also not many understand just how weirdly Xtina use to dress - people think Gaga's dress sense is so fresh, are they forgetting Xtina? she use to dress just as weird:

One of her more iconic looks.

I agree.

The Fighter video is another good example

And Christina was bringing Catholic themes to pop music long before Judas:

The Fighter video is the perfect mix of pop and avant garde, it's so stylish too.

AND yes I loved when she hosted the EMAs, that entrance was grand. Xtina shamelessly grinding around in a nuns outfit, **** chic. love it :nacho:

The song itself also shows that she could make a great rock album.

I think it's great that artists like Christina have made artistic statements against the idea that women should be submissive housewives and that they can be in control of their s-xuality. Christina's unique brand of feminism is very empowering.

With Lil' Kim, and then she worked with Nicki Minaj on liberating anthem WooHoo. She's even on-trend when it comes to which female rappers she works with :flutter:

Xtina,in the same vein as Madonna, has always been on the trends, always cutting edge. Doesn't her work on Bionic prove that? M.I.A, Sia, Nicki etc.

She knows whats hot.

She was totally ahead of the electropop curve with Keeps Gettin' Better as well.

It's fitting that she and Madonna duetted at the 2003 VMAs, they're so alike.

:usrs: It's....a feather dress - hardly avant garde.

Am I dreaming right now? Is this a dream?BvwqF.gif
