Ziggy 12,487
Literally none of that was remotely funny to me. Like, I’m far from “sensitive” but I think you REALLY need to feel like an attacked privileged individual to find this material funny. As in, you need to be completely delusional to your place in society to find this funny. The They/them stuff? Oh you went to a your mom joke? SUPER CLEVER. Sounds like spongebob learning swear words. The drug stuff? Um, old timer, you ever been to an edm festival? The parkland thing? OH WOW A FAT JOKE. Something that hasn’t been remotely funny in, like, 10 years. This is the most dated, unsophisticated rambling I’ve ever heard. I’ve hoenstly heard amateur stand up that lands better than this. I’m all for comedy going places, but if it’s going to it has to at least be clever. This is some of the laziest most derivative work I’ve ever heard him put out. For instance, Ali Wong extensively berates feminism in her first stand up show but it works because it’s a funny joke about how she just wants to sleep and all these hard working women are ruining that for her by letting men know that women can work. That’s intelligent. It knows the climate, assesses it through the comedian’s own lens and is crafted with forethought even though it’s a fairly simple joke. Heck, even Veep delivers BLISTERING comedy well because, again, it is aware. This is just what happens when you get your drunk uncle talking about unions, then he tells you for 40 minutes about how awful they are and it goes down an incoherent rabbit hole of things that bothers him even though he has absolutely zero knowledge on any of it beyond his own knee jerk opinion. weak. Morphine Prince 107,953
I actually enjoy black comedy and somewhat offensive humor done by people who are actually progressive but can joke about the opposite. However, this was painfully unfunny and way too offensive. Let’s see if he’d make these jokes if one of his shows got shot up.

This IS a forum and just like you are welcomed with your opinions, so am I. Apologies for having different opinions...I keep my mind open and that's what happens when ya do so. I never ONCE said nobody wasnt allowed to be critical or offended. Being offended is a choice. Ya know what's funny? The person who responds to attempt to make sense of it all in humor, is the one that gets the vitirol. Happy new year. Happy new year! Very funny and progressive. Now? Unfunny and stupid.
Dominic 11,922
I'm a firm believer that all comedians should be politically correct, sensitive, inoffensive, progressive and kind. The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

And tbh if I was there in person I would have found a lot more even funnier. It's just humour. My closest circle of friends that I've had for ten years now since the beginning of high school used to tear each other a new one, day in day out. So maybe that's why I see this as not a problem. Because my best friends are the greatest people ever who got me through the worst time of my life when I was kicked out for being gay. But I bet you wouldn't think they were the type if you overheard a snippet of a homophobic joke they made in jest. Just accept humour can be dark sometimes. Let's be real, when have you ever built a belief system around/intergrated a belief into your world-view from something a comedian said? The difference is that those are your friends and he's a professional making "your mom" jokes. Like, that's not even commentary or even related to the topic he was talking about. Oh and let's talk about kids that were in a school shooting and make it a fat kid joke. because that conclusion makes sense? Tbh it's not that he's joking about these topics, it's that he literally has nothing to say about them and just "referenced" them? like, did he do a keyword search on what they'd laugh at? It's just lazy imo and I'd be pissed to hear a "your mom" joke if I paid to see a comedian. I could go to a middle school for that.

Surely it's the jokes that people think are wrong otherwise it's just predujice against him or the comedian career in general? Why do you think comedy somehow had to subscribe to your guidlines otherwise it doesn't justify the morality of the joke? You aren't the comedy police Thing is that's your opinion but comedy doesn't need to have a 'point' or a 'reference' or some sort of a happy ending just because you think it needs it. Laughing is one of the few things that is intrinsic to human happiness in the modern age and we don't choose what we find funny. We just find it funny. One of the worst things to ever happen to comedy is the need to impose your own beliefs onto it. You either find it funny or not, live and let live and that should be the end of it. I've dealt with a lot of discrimination, racism and homophobia. I don't need to seek it out in places that it isn't there. Coven Season

All I’m saying is that the jokes are lazy af. He didn’t even say anything about the subject matter. Like I said, he made your mom and fat people jokes. Wow, super clever and definitely shows a lot of effort. My point is that if you’re going to make a joke about something, do you’re research and say something, don’t just reference it like a keyword in an ad search. That’s cheap. He’s better than this and has had better material than this. I think it’s perfectly healthy to critique comedy especially when they go into “racy” territory as he did. We should expect more of a professional. I said nothing about prejudice, we can joke about anything and should but I think we ought to hold people to higher standards than the absolute lowest common denominator of humor especially when this is their career. We critique every other artist’s work so why should we accept any less from comedians? These are lazy jokes from a guy who has shown to be more clever. He comes off like a drunk uncle at Christmastime rather than a professional paid to make people laugh. It’s disappointing to know he’s better than this. His job is to make people laugh and by the sounds of it, he got people roaring in that crowd. Heck he even got me laughing sat watching through a screen, not even in the audience and taken out of context. Just because you think it's lazy doesn't mean he didn't do his job. Yes I agree we can critique everyone so we will just have to agree on our differences of opinion here. I dislike a lot of comedians even though they might have what you think is necessary for standup and I find a lot of comedians funny who probably don't subscribe to your standards. It's just comedy, yes it can be a craft and a profession but we find it everywhere. It doesn't always need to be this highly concocted recipe. Sometimes we just find things funny. You'd be surprised how many comedians have great sets and a stupid non-sensical style to their work. Coven Season
