Hey guys and gheys, I'm looking to read more books about the community but honestly didn't know where to start. I prefer darker stories about the dangers within our community kinda like the works of dennis Cooper and jt Leroy. Any recommendations lemme know

Saint Hollywood

I recommend Boy Erased! :legend:

It's a captivating memoir about a boy dealing with the struggles of conversion therapy, general homophobia, and coming to terms with his own beliefs. It definitely demonstrates how risky life can become for simply loving who they love.

LOVEDRUG

I'm reading a book called The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue about a bisexual man in 18th century England. I'd recommend it.

Also the Song of Achilles is a good gay love story.

It does not exactly fulfill your criteria, but "Funny Boy" by Shyam Selvadurai is a book I recently read and enjoyed. It's about a kid who's struggling with his sexuality in a (civil) war-torn Ceylon (Sri Lanka, a south Asian country). It also have a cute gay love story.

I have heard a lot about "A Little Life" by Hanya Yanagihara, but have not read it myself. It's pretty dark as far as I know.

Oh, and Cursed Child by Rowling is pretty dark as well, since the two gays were not allowed to "be gay" and were "forced" into heterosexual relationships :neyde: I will never forgive Jo for that :cryga:

I know Wattpad has a bad reputation and the title won’t help but this book is really good: Call Me Daddy by guzmasboi. Give it a try, it’s surprisingly well written for being a Wattpad book.

I LOVE reading so I have several recommendations:

1. Velvet Rage

2. Less

3. Daring Greatly (not gay centric, but sooooo good)

4. The Road to Character (also not gay, but like 🥰🥰🥰)

I heard Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin is really good. I’m only a couple pages in and the writing is amazing.
