SKANK 14,288
"I want your Psycho, your vertical kiss..." Ugh. It's cool if you want to change lyrics when you cover a song, but I've seen a couple male artists alter that line because they think she is singing "vertical stick." It's "vertigo shtick." It's not just a cheap **** joke. The Hitchcock references (Psycho, Rear Window, Vertigo) hammer home the idea that she is singing about a dark obsessive kind of love. Joseph Gordon Levitt gets it. Yep, it irks me that a lot have rearranged that verse when it’s so well written. Using Hitchock references to describe being dominated by a sadistic sounding lover or wanting to be is pretty incredible for a pop song. Chopping it up because one fears someone not versed would think “haha that sounds kinda gay coming from a dude” probably shouldn’t be the audience you’re after with this song anyway. We all miss hear lyrics. I honestly thought she was singing "your retarded" at the beginning of Government Hooker, but evidently she is singing " lo ritorne."
