Y’all remember when Jill walked out of the DNC with a bunch of idiot Bernie Bros? Boo Boo the Fools.

Jill Stein was at the same dinner in December 2015 and at the same table as Putin and Michael Flynn for RT.

Why this isn’t being pointed out more is beyond me.

“Also at the head table were three western politicians. Willy Wimmer, a former member of the German Bundestag who is often critical of U.S. foreign policy; Cyril Svoboda, former deputy prime minister, minister of foreign affairs, and interior minister of the Czech Republic, and two-time U.S. Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, the only American besides Flynn at the head table.

Stein's 2016 campaign was heavily promoted by RT. She hasn't spoken much about the RT dinner, but in an interview with NBC News last fall, she deflected questions about her appearance, instead chastising the U.S. media for not paying attention to her campaign while RT gave it a lot more attention.

"And my own connection to RT, you know ironically, it takes a Russian television station to actually be open to independent candidates in this country and that is a shame. A shameful commentary on our own media," she told NBC's Alex Seitz-Wald.

(Stein did well enough to help Russia achieve its aims. Her vote totals in the crucial states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan were all greater than Clinton's margin of defeat, and arguably denied Clinton an Electoral College victory.)”

Jill Stein is a hippie wine mom, not a Russian agent. Third party candidates run every single election cycle and garner a minuscule percentage of the vote. Russia didn't cause Clinton to lose to a reality TV show host and serial rapist who could barely form a sentence. Significantly more Sanders voters voted for Clinton than 2008 Clinton voters voted for Obama after the primaries, which was infinitely more brutal than anything that happened in the 2016 primary. None of these articles have any hard data that, in any way, indicates that these much-hyped Russian tactics were at all successful.

Clinton lost because she was a widely-hated candidate with a bloodless technocratic team, a Democratic base that was far to her left, and a party establishment that transparently backed her campaign while disparaging her primary opponent in a way that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way (because it was blatantly anti-democratic and corrupt and confirmed what a lot of people on the left already believed about the national party apparatus). She played the role of the centrist insider (because... that's what she is) at a time where the public was angry and dissatisfied with the status quo. Republicans benefited from gerrymandering and voter suppression tactics. She was a couple of points ahead in the national polling and lost in swing states where the margins were close because she couldn't get dissatisfied Democratic voters to turn out to vote (while Republicans were simultaneously suppressing their votes).

The left didn't kill Clinton's campaign and Russia didn't steal the election from her. She lost because she was an unpopular candidate with an atrocious record on race, LGBT rights, foreign policy, healthcare, environmental issues, marijuana legalization, the carceral state, austerity, and only got less and less popular the more she campaigned and because the Republican party cheated, like they always do. That's it. We don't need to invent conspiracy theories to explain what's right in front of our faces.

"Oxford researchers note that 2016 and 2017 saw "significant efforts" to disrupt elections around the world not just by Russia, but by domestic political parties spreading disinformation."

Russian operatives aren't the only groups using social websites to influence voters by ethnic or other demographics.

It's not THAT hard to read that Russia helped INFLUENCE the election through cyber warfare. In no way is anyone saying that Clinton lost due to Russian hacking.

You're right! I'm not saying that they didn't! It definitely seemed, though, from the way that those earlier posts were phrased, that that's what the above users were implying. Sadly, I think there are a LOT of people that truly believe that Russia literally hacked into voting machines and stole the election from Clinton. :saladga:

I doubt it only because I don't really see that being reported. The point of this thread is talking about Russia's influence through social media. We cannot deny that. And we can't also assume that Clinton won purely due to her unlike ability.

That might be the intended point of the thread, but every other post in here was about Stein being a supposed Russian agent because she went to a dinner in Russia and insulting mythical "Bernie Bros" and implying that they were duped by her into going along with her nefarious spy mission. :laughga:

I can't deny that Russia attempted to influence the election through social media (because we know that they did) but I CAN dispute its supposed effectiveness because the evidence we have indicates that it was largely incompetent (grainy memes that barely anyone interacted with and Twitter accounts with 10 followers tweeting into a void):

That's all I was trying to say with my initial post.

I personally an not saying that at all. In fact, I agree with many of your assessments about Clinton, even if I did vote for her (I supported Bernie in the primaries).

However, since Russian influence is being investigated I think Jill Stein’s connections should be looked at. Being at an RT dinner at the same table as Putin is not a good look. At the same table as Flynn, who is being sentenced today for lying to the FBI about his lobbying and other foreign contacts is not a good look.

We don’t know how effective Russian interference strategies were but if they want to prevent it from becoming worse they need to look into everything.

And to add to that.

Y'all remember when Stein sat with Putin and Flynn? :vegas:
