Girl... what?! :rip:

You think the general public knows Gaga for jazz now because she did that duets album with Tony?! And her last two "hits" were barely hits at all. Million Reasons made it to the top five because of her Super Bowl performance and Shallow never took off on the radio at all. It only peaked in the top ten because it was attached to a movie. :rip: She hasn't had an actual, literal hit since Applause/DWUW. You really thought you did somethin with that, huh...

C2C brought acclaim to gaga and that's how it saved her career not everything have to be related to chart and gp...  And i think it's a healthy thing for her to make experimental music ..

I knew that u're worried about her not returning to her dance roots and I'm worried about that too and to be honest i can't stand another experimental album specially right now...  But I'm here for metal..soul.. Opera.. Jazz or even reggae album after LG6.

:diane:

What. No, ma'am.

Shallow is a mother****ing hit. Rolling Stone has it up for second best song of the year, and it's in the running for Song of the Year at the Grammy's like no, people know about this song, probably more than Applause and definitely DWUW :laughga: Just because a soundtrack is released doesn't mean its singles will do well, don't we all still remember the Leona Lewis Avatar disaster? :icega:

And I actually agree with @AStarIsBorn21 that C2C was very important for her career. It allowed her to stay in the spotlight, and build up a reputation as a quality performer, while biding her time before settling on her next solo project, which was crucial after the ARTPOP mess that almost ruined her respectability/relevance. It's one of the most important reasons Joanne didn't helplessly flop tbh and she's still going :what:

And yes, the public was well aware she was doing jazz. She had a massively successful worldwide tour with one absolutely viral performance, she did tons of big award show performances, interviews,... even if people didn't know all the details, Gaga going jazz was one of the big stories of 2014 :ladyhaha: The album hit #1 in the States for god's sakes. The people who weren't aware of that whole era were the ones who weren't paying attention to pop music in the first place, so why count them?

heavy metal would make me unstan forever

Why?  :oprah: It doesn’t mean she’d be doing that forever? You know Gaga, she does everything, you don’t have to like it all

I just want her to make something great. I don't care if it's experimental as long as it's great. I'm not one of those fans that wants an album of "bops." I don't care about that. I don't want some tired rehash of The Fame. I was just saying that it would be career suicide to make a metal album right now. On top of that, I'm not a metal fan so I don't really want it either. :vegas:

Okay mary, calm down a bit. :laughga: Is it being played on the radio? No. Was it ever played on the radio consistently? No. She hasn't had a radio hit since ARTPOP and that's undeniable. Shallow is a part of the zeitgeist, for sure, and if that's how we're defining the term "hit" then sure. It's a hit. But it's a "hit" because it's attached to a popular film, not because it's somehow sonically indicative of the direction that Gaga should take in her career. :laughga: There's a reason radio stations wouldn't play it.

Of course C2C helped her career. It got an older crowd on board with what she's doing. I went to the tour! You're not telling me anything I don't already know, nor did I say anything to indicate that I disagreed with any of this in my last couple of posts. wtf girl? :ladyhaha:

Sis, wtf are you talking about... Literally all I said is that people KNOW her for her own dance hits. You're delusional if you think that the general public hears the name "Lady Gaga" and thinks of jazz standards... :rip: They think of the disco stick, Poker Face, Bad Romance, and her "crazy" outfits. And now ASIB. A metal album would flop and you KNOW it. :saladga:

I- :rip:

The people who weren't aware of that era were the people that listen to pop music, or at least they didn't actually listen to the album. You think young people were popping their bussies to Lush Life in the club or on Spotify while they were smoking a bowl? :rip: Older audiences, Tony's fans and us stans bought it. Periodt.

I've heard it on the radio at work every single day for weeks now :messga: Maybe my country (Belgium) is an exception somehow, but I don't see how we should only take airplay into the equation and not all the other signs of success :air: That's why I think your post was such a reach. It's simply undeniable that the song has nestled its way into general public perception, which is reflected in its success in terms of sales, streaming and year-end lists etc.

Again, why do you assume every song attached to a popular film will be successful or become part of the zeitgeist at all? :ladyhaha: I don't get that at all. The song is successful because a lot of people were exposed to it and simply liked it. Why do we need to make more of it than that?

I don't think that's true anymore. I think people think of a lot of things now when they hear Gaga, and that they're very aware that she's not the Poker Face girl anymore but is doing a lot of different projects now, which includes her very well-known and much talked about project with Tony Bennett

I'm not disagreeing that a metal album would flop, but imo commercial success is overrated anyway. For an artist like Gaga going forward at her age, critical acclaim, legacy and respectability is far more important than keeping up with how much the oversexualized teens are selling :laughga:

Agreed, but that doesn't mean nobody knew she was doing jazz. My whole family knew, all ages included, without me ever telling them about it and they don't give a **** about pop culture :interestinga: Again, my case might be unique, but my experience is valid too.

Shallow is literally always on the radio where I live (States)... I’ve heard it play atleast once everyday (usually twice though). :ladyhaha: Are you in Azerbaijan?

So here, we have two members who are hearing the song every day :ladyhaha: Bye bye to that "it's not being played!!" theory.

girl it literally plays a pivotal role and is played in full in the middle of one of the most popular movies of the year and became a meme before the movie came out. that's why people know about and are posting about it online. I'm not saying that they didn't also like it, but you think that it it was a stand-alone single it would've taken off the way it has? :ladyhaha:

It doesn't confirm it's a smash but you literally claimed it was not being played on the radio right now and that it was never played consistently, which two members (one from the States) have proven wrong :saladga: Stop being so catty.
