I'm a Christian, and a teacher, but I would use whatever pronoun my student wanted me to use. You can't expect to be a teacher, working with the public, and be closed minded to the way people live their life.  I have much bigger issues in my classroom than this, like students going home and not having food. If this is his biggest problem, he needs a reality check. I'm glad the school district stood up for the student, I don't know if this would happen everywhere.

What I think is ****ed up is that he doesn't HAVE to use pronouns. He could easily just not use them in relation to the students. He went out of his way to be disrespectful.

So true. Some people are taking their religious teaching at face value and forgetting the main lesson that lies within; be compassionate, be generous, be loving.

Whelp, I just don’t get why you’d act like that. It’s not that hard to say “she” instead of “he”’or whatever. It’s intentionally hurtful not to use the right pronouns. Any teacher that intentionally hurts their students should absolutely be fired.

I think the sad thing about this is that I think most people (in the general public) are going to side with the teacher on this one. People need to learn to respect other people's differences. If someone wants to go by a certain pronoun, then I don't see why it's so difficult to just call them by that pronoun. 

I always go back and equate this to cis people's pronouns. You wouldn't want to call a guy who identifies as a guy a girl and vice versa. Just use the damn pronoun.

By doing what he did he really basically bullied that kid because how embarassing to get that far in your personal journey just to be ridiculed by authority in the presence of others. 

While I can kinda appreciate that he may not agree because that's his choice, doesnt matter. It's not up to him. 

Plus the Bible says judge not, lest you be judged. 

Read the whole book not just the part ya like, "teacher"!
