tbh at first, I was really put off by how much of an actual clown that Phoenix looked like when they first premiered his make-up, but it's really grown on me. I've heard that this movie is going to be more of a character study than it is a "DCEU-comic book movie", and I'm really interested to see how they're going to execute that. 

 The angle of making him a mob boss was an interesting idea that I wish was pulled off better. It’s always been something that I like in the Elseworlds comics.

Leto was trash...but this too seems like a bad Heath Ledger impersonator...

I agree, the long hair is a little too reminiscent of Heath Ledger, but I'm sure that this Joker will be very different personality-wise from Heath's performance.

Jared was actually praised by critics for his performance, and let us remember that Suicide Squad is about Suicide Squad, it's not a Joker origin or solo movie.

I think it would only be fair to judge Jared if he's given a full-length feature film.

True, but I'm judging his performance off of what we received from Suicide Squad. Would it have been better if he got his own full-length feature film? Maybe. That's all within the realm of speculation though. From what we saw, I just wasn't a big fan of it.
