And it's not like Grindr can turn around and cater to conservatives, they know what the app is about too. He's got to go, in my opinion. This is a really bad look and at a time when other gay apps like Scruff are getting more popular and more gay people are using non-lgbt-specific hookup apps like Tinder. They can't afford to alienate people. If gay people paid more attention to stuff like this it would be a PR disaster, in fact. We'll see how it turns out. Oh, I know. I wasn’t tying him to my long statement below minus the part he knows LGBT oriented products and services are profitable in this day and age. He absolutely should step down. It’s not consistent. He 100% went in it solely for profit and nothing else.

Grindr has always been notorious for being the safe haven of gay white supremacists, I would not be surprised if they actually tried to rebrand themselves as some sort of "elite dating app" or specifically an app geared towards the gay alt-right which seems to be flourishing right now
PoshLife 17,019
I just submitted a ticket telling them to fire him Not that my one message will make a difference but if a lot of individual users make their disappointment heard, and the mainstream press picks this up in addition to LGBT media (I see it in the Guardian already) then we might get him ousted. latina twilight 2,319
Fine, I never got anything good from that app anyways. "YOU USED TO BE SO KIND, I NEVER KNEW YOU HAD SUCH A DIRRTY MIND".

Grindr actually just started a new initiative about a month ago called "Kindr" (ridiculous, I know) which is all about eradicating the casual racism ("not into black guys sorry!") on their app. Do I think they're serious about it? Not at all. But does it signal they're worried that minority users are flocking away from Grindr and that they're losing out on a major demographic particularly in urban areas where these apps are very popular? Absolutely. And to be clear, I didn't say it IS a PR disaster, I said it would be if people paid attention to it. I have no idea whether this will become "a thing" but I do see more outlets starting to publish about it in the past hour. We'll know in a day or two if anything comes of this. And the more I read about it the more uncomfortable I get I didn't realize the company was acquired by a Chinese firm, I'm not trying to be sinophobic but given their own LGBT record and now what Chen has said about marriage, it really makes me feel like this app is just about business and not at all because someone at the top actually believes gay men should have a space. Like obviously it was always meant to make money like any other business venture, but...

I mean it would be nice to think business genuinely cared all the time about whatever product or service they’re selling but the reality is some will just jump on any business opportunity... SKANK 14,288
https://www.advocate.com/news/2018/11/29/grindr-pres-lashes-out-after-report-claims-he-opposes-marriage-rights Chen claims to support marriage equality, claims to never have donated money to anti-LGBT causes, and chalks this up to a translation issue. When he said marriage was a religious institution between a man and a woman he was referring to his own marriage. He claims to fully support marriage between same-sex couples. Perhaps it was a translation issue, or perhaps this is his attempt at cleaning up the situation - though it does mention in his original Facebook post that he would never waste money donating against LGBT rights - but either way, maybe before contacting a company and demanding someone lose their job, or suggesting that someone's status as a racial minority is why they are homophobic, people on this site could take a second to consider the situation more thoughtfully. JK, he is canceled, boycott app, white supemeist, trash, and soon to be unemployed.

JK, he is canceled, boycott app, white supemeist, trash, and soon to be unemployed. Haha oh boy, here he goes again! In the several years we've both been on GGD I have never once found you to be a constructive addition to a conversation. This brand of lazy snark is definitely the SKANK calling card. It is part and parcel of how you have decided to present yourself on here. But since this sorry attempt at shade was directed toward me, I'll respond: I regret nothing that I've done. What he said about marriage stands in diametric opposition to the entire *existence* of an app that brings gay men together. He should not be running the company. So I assure you I've thought about it plenty, and I'd advise you to do so as well rather than just take his "clarification" as gospel.
