On Thursday, Grindr’s news vertical INTO reported that the dating app’s president and former CTO Scott Chen claimed marriage is a "holy matrimony between a man and a woman" in a deleted Facebook post, according to sources within Grindr.

INTO reports that Chen — who became the app’s CTO after it was purchased outright by Kunlun in 2017 — shared a story about HTC president and CEO Cher Wang, who supported US-based anti-LGBTQ+ groups, hoping to influence Taiwan’s decision on same-sex marriage through various non-profits. In response to comments on the article, Chen responded with his own views about the ‘sanctity’ of marriage.

“There are people who believe that marriage is a holy matrimony between a man and a woman. I agree but that’s none of our business."

He opposes same-sex marriage, but has no problem collecting the gay user’s monthly coins. Disgusting.

Also, we need to stop acting like minorities aren’t homophobic. I’m finding that minorities seem to be much more regressive when it comes to social topics.

What? Am I missing something or misunderstanding something? This has to be a joke or something...That's like being black and saying "I hate black people."

Lmao. The gay in me is offended but the scammer in me respects the scam.:selena:

but also this doesn’t make sense to me at all. I might be wrong, but I thought the Bible said gay sex was bad not gay marriage??? Did the people who believe this stuff forget their argument???

well yeah, but they’re only minorities in the US context. In most Asian and Muslim countries hating gays is pretty much the norm.

Actually not surprising. He’s only in it for the money.

I’ll probably be crucified from what I’m about to say but MANY corporations in the USA jumped on the LGBT bandwagon in the last decade since SSM became more accepted in this country. Supporting trendy social issues can be profitable if you see it is inevitable the cause will win, as will LGBT in the US. Corporations that oppose SSM like Chic Fil A don’t see an effect on sales because it’s still not supported by 30-40% of the population. As long as an issue can capture half of the population it will be profitable. Look at the increased polarization of politics these days. You are basically capturing 50% of the population with any view, minus some issues.

No, its forbidden to lay down with a man, have sex all you want but do it standing up... or sitting down... or like if you're on a reclined bondage cross, and your partner is standing, technically he's not laying with you... There are ways :trollga:

OT: Wow, I'm offended honestly... I'm protesting this - from now on, I will cruise grindr even harder and my succ game will be even stronger - he has no idea what he's unleashed :grr:

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

I get where you're coming from but he's literally running a gay hookup app. It's not just a company saying they support LGBT equality, it's literally an LGBT-specific app. So I think there's a higher threshold of what we should expect from the people running the company. And it's not like Grindr can turn around and cater to conservatives, they know what the app is about too.

He's got to go, in my opinion. This is a really bad look and at a time when other gay apps like Scruff are getting more popular and more gay people are using non-lgbt-specific hookup apps like Tinder. They can't afford to alienate people. If gay people paid more attention to stuff like this it would be a PR disaster, in fact. We'll see how it turns out.
