The thing is that unfortunately many people use the word ‘gay’ as an insult. I started to get called gay when I was 12, even when I never thought about boys that way and did like girls. But it happened so many times that I started to feel insecure about it. It is not fun when random people at school scream: ‘hey gay guy!’ at you because you just know they use it to bully you. The fact that I liked Lady Gaga and what she stood for didn’t help either. Even friends admitted that their first thought of me was that is must be gay. For years I was/ still am insecure about my sexuality because other people told me so.  Now that I’m 18 it is a lot less worse but I still feel insecure sometimes. I never had a girlfriend (only when I was 12) so that doesn’t help either. The friend zone is real lol

some of you are probably crying IRL about people insulting you, forcing you to come out or exposing/assuming your sexuality and you're doing the same thing to Shawn. Be more compassionate and put yourself in his position. and if you put yourself in his position and you still don’t get it, he made it pretty clear that it hurts him, so everyone should stop.

Well its about being called something you're not, repeatedly and by thousands of people on the internet and in real life.

If someone would repeatedly tell me that I'm liar, or that I'm a thief or that my favorite color is pink or whatever, it would bother me. I know I'm not a liar, I know I'm not a thief, pink isn't my favorite color. So what? Yeah okay, brush it off. But then, over time, if people don’t stop calling me that, and I would see articles written about that, comments everywhere that I am, it surely would annoy me

In my humble opinion -- if he was secure in his sexuality, he would just laugh and brush this off the same way Gaga brushed off the "she's really a man" rumours. Waking up with night terrors and dating women to prove you're not gay is just not something a straight man would do. But I guess it's none of my business.
