Britney Spears' impact

When people say that Britney Spears is the worst thing to happen to music in the last quarter-century, aren't they simply admitting that Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Rihanna, Adele, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have all collectively had a less impact on the music industry than Britney Spears?

The difference is that Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Christina, P!nk, Rihanna, Adele, Taylor Swift and even Katy Perry at least try to sing live and make a powerful performance. Britney feels fake, like a robot, and she doesn't even try to sing since 1900.

Btw I don't agree with Britney Spears being the worst thing to happen to music. She's simply a weird act, but not the worst.

LUCARTPOP

Please, some of the faves nowadays wished they had an album as stunning as Blackout! :ohwell:

They love to make fun of Britney because a lot of people see her as an industry puppet, a robot, someone who doesn't care about her career, yet people forget the fact that they made her like that and wanted to invade her privacy.

Britney is fine, she had an impact on pop music with just one album and is still considered a pop icon.

The Bling

Britney Spears is one of the most influential women in music along with Madonna, whether people like it or not :poot: The amount of Britney wannabes out there is sickening

It's easy to make fun of her because of her breakdown and how she performs nowadays, but she's a goddamn icon

She's unbelievably talented, she just doesn't show it much; she's gotten pretty lazy for the last decade which is damaging her repuation A LOT :selena:

First, the worst thing to happen to music is the chainsmokers

Second, Britney IS pop music, the real definition of it, doesn't matter if she sings live or not, she doesn't even give a meaning to her songs, as she said "it's just a song", her impact on performance, on music videos, on the big hits machine is huge and amazing.

she has inspired many artists and britney has an amazing legacy! She is iconic and she has had a massive impact on pop culture, and if anyone thinks otherwise they are deluded

I really enjoy Britney Spears sometimes... "Sometimes" :ladyhaha:, but anyway, your reply is pretty much how I feel about her, basically a lifeless robot gaining money by walking on stage :ladyhaha:

Smother Em Eh

Yep she’s really a influential Artist. I had no idea that she inspired so many people.

Like even Gaga said she was inspired by her. But maybe it was because Britney came out way before her and she was a big pop star at the time when Gaga was growing up, so Gaga had a pop star to look up to.

Britneys impact is undeniable. No doubt.

It's easy to say that she hasn't had much impact because she was under so much control by her record label. But controlled or not, the output still had impact. I see girls to this day put out indie acoustic covers of Toxic, I've seen the Baby One More Time video re-created on dance contest shows, I've heard people try to mimic Britney's voice as part of impression challenges, she reinvented the idea of Vegas residencies being for middle-aged/elderly acts only (and still has lots of interest in her shows after several years of it) and her videos are still getting views and likes all these years later and she has 17 Vevo-certified videos (with 5 more in the 90 million view ballpark waiting in the wings). It's so rare for an act who's been around since the 90's to still generate this level of attention even if she isn't selling music as well as she used to.

And by the way, it's hardly like she caused lipsynching to be acceptable. It actually became less and less acceptable as time wore on after she debuted. Nowadays, we've reached a point where we can't abide it anymore and can't even pretend. But Britney is still the exception that's made because she's still got people wanting to see her, even if they know she's not completely live. Whether you agree with that or not, she must command that level of star power to make it a non-issue just for her.

Britney was a hell of a performer in her prime, arguably on similar level as beyonce (Obvi beyonce has more crazy and extreme dances) but they both have mega stage presence. So ngl, the singing doesn't matter.

She Is the epitome of pop music and an icon, that's why xtina (love her) was always in her shadow, xtina had the voice but lacked the other ingredients that  britney had, the IT factor.

since her prime she's had a leg injury, a mental breakdown and she was also on meds from the late 00's to the early 10's which is why she came across as lazy. She's stiff nowadays because of the injury, and she's definitely developed bad anxiety since the breakdown
