Hillary Clinton: "Europe must curb immigration to stop rightwing populists"

It's interesting to see Hillary Clinton pandering to far-right racists. I believe that it is just her way of getting attention after she lost the election. It's ironic that she tells that right-wing populism is a rising problem while in fact she is a right-wing populist herself. Only some of the craziest American republicans believe that there's anything leftist about her.

I also believe that Hillary Clinton really needs to stop running her mouth and get out of politics because she's completely clueless regarding immigration issues and many other things. In reality US foreign policies in the Middle East caused the immigration crisis and Clinton has always supported those aggressive sledgehammer policies that US government prefers. Clinton also supported Iraq war which is one of the greatest disasters of the recent history.

Clinton lied when she said that we wouldnt't be able to provide help to refugees. Most of the western countries are rich countries and they can take care of much more refugees than they are currently doing. Poor countries like Lebanon and Jordan have taken more refugees than many rich western countries. Refugee crisis is also a moral crisis.

You're already making a problematic post by conflating legal and illegal immigrants. Then no, all immigrants (legal or not) are not only arriving in Italy. There are Spain, Greece, and other coastal countries (oh and France has a mediterranean coast).

You're totally falling for the italian media and political fear-mongering speech. What I recommend you is to widen your sources when you read the news and look for foreign media sources. Maybe you wouldn't have that huge bias that is showing in your post. That idea that Italy is alone against the rest of the EU is so wrong.

Italy population is composed of ~9% of legal immigrants, France has ~12%.

When it comes to illegal immigrants, it's really hard to count, Italian government gave the number of 500k illegal immigrants, France gave the number of 400k (but it's actually more since the 400k are only the one who used a service for health issues).

As you can see Italy situation isn't as bad as you think it is. You're just blinded by the italian medias.

The only help that Italy should be given from Europe is not about redirecting immigrants to other countries but about the costs generated by controlling the border and saving illegal immigrants when their boat sink. (which is already in discussion in the EU)

I'm italian and i totally agree

Didn’t Italy just elect a fascist government?

I don't know what international media say about Italy, but the results of the 2018 election were these:

32,6% Movimento 5 Stelle (eurosceptic and anti-establishment, but leftwing overall)

18,7% PD (pro-EU and leftwing, even if it is critized for not to be so leftwing anymore)

17,3% Lega (eurosceptic, anti-immigration, rightwing, it has been governing Northern regions of Italy for 20 years)

14% Forza Italia (pro-EU and rightwing, related to Berlusconi and all his issues)

And then a series of little parties

So the "fascist" party was voted by only 17%, even if some surveys predict that its consensus is increasing a lot.

Movimento 5 Stelle and Lega made an alliance because PD decided to stay at the opposition in any case, even if its programm was partially similar to the Movimento 5 Stelle. No one wanted to spend money to make new elections with a crazy electoral system that would have obtained the same results.

Movimento 5 Stelle & Lega are united by a sort of "governamental contract", but no new and significant law about immigration was approved in Parliament so far. The government started fighting to find a solution with other countries for immigration, as the end of the previous one actually. I wouldn't classify the Italian government as "fascist", because it means nothing with the facts and the situation we can see today... it's just a word to discredit this change, as we could say "communist" to a new leftwing party. We have to wait to judge it. I could say that there are some serious controversy going on because of some strong declarations, but nothing more than that.

The mayor of Riace, who was arrested because of suspect activities with migrants, is a fact independent from the government, because the police and the magistrature aren't related to the executive here.

you should know better than to generalize whole populations

He said the "majority" were thinking this way tho, not that the wholes populations were like that.

“Every single immigrant who came to Italy was given a place where to sleep, sometimes even in a really pretty structure or so, he/she was given 2/3 meals per day, in most of the cases they were given a beatiful accomodation.”

An Italian mayor saved his village by welcoming migrants. Now he’s been arrested for it.

You two should talk, since you both act like only your sources are right

@lego calling Italian governement "Fascist" is a perfect examples of what @Florian is telling me. He's falling for left-wing political fear speech.

My governement sure isn't a good one, I personally haven't and would never vote for it, but it is not fascist, please. At least be objective and intellectually honest.

I don't understand why I'm brought in the same answer as Lego since our posts are totally different and you haven't even adressed mine.

I answered to your post with factual data that you can verify easily on the web. So yes I consider my sources quite reliable. Those data showed that your arguments were wrong and biased by how some italian media and politicians portray your European neighbours.

Idk what you want more from me

You act all kind and lovely in stupid threads but once immigration/Islam/Middle East threads show up, the white, racist person in you comes out.

Some of you, of course.

You should ashamed of yourselves, again.

People in the Middle East are living in misery, regardless of the reason, could be war, or society, or economy, and anyone who seeks asylum because of these issues should be granted asylum and a better life because that's a human's right; to live a happy and a peaceful life.

But why would you care? Everything a refugee seeks and hopes for is taken for granted by you. You have your rights, and your rights are protected. Nothing else should matter to you, right?

I'm just gonna touch on that you're calling some people in this discussion "racist", while you seem to be insinuating that to be racist you have to be white.

... You can't make this **** up. This forum. :smh:

This topic is about Europe and its immigration policies. Much to your surprise, Europeans are mostly white. Look, color people all you want but you can't change the fact that some of the responses are pure racist, which is what I want to emphasize here, regardless of the color.

The refugees she's referring to are escaping regions destabilized and destroyed by the U.S.'s interventionist wars, wars SHE supported and numerous European countries got on board with, wars that killed countless innocent people who died for the crime of EXISTING within those nations.

Exactly. People conveniently forget feminist queen Hillary supported  and was the architect of the wars in the MENA region which created theses problems.

As for the rest of you. Pathetic as usual. Not surprising though. Fortunate for most of you, you will never have run for your lives escaping genocide and war crimes just hoping that someone, somewhere will let you have some safety.

This whole immigration "problem' is fake, its only purpose is to distract people from the real problems.
