Why did The Carters flop?

People saying the album was bad? :interestinga:

Just because your not a fan of hip-hop music doesn’t mean everything related to the genre is bad.

I think the album was an overall success. The era was short lived, a bit messy, and lack of promo but it still pulled through. The tour was also a success. I think both fanbases weren’t 100% ready to merge with eachother since they’re very different.

Btw APESH*T topped Perfect Illusion and both lead singles had limited promo. :trollga:

One song was a trendy Migos reject released by the world's top power couple in the peak of hip hop's popularity. The other one was a pop rock song released in... 2016. :trollga:

I suppose that most Beyoncé fans don't like Jay-Z music and most Jay-Z fans don't like Beyoncé music so the two together on music wasn't interesting for a lot of people

Spartacus

Though I'm a HUGE Beyoncé stan, the reasons why I didn't buy it...

1.  The majority of it is crap trap and I wanted a pure r&b or hip-hop album from them.

2.  That awful cover that features two unknown dancers.

3.  I'm beyond over them milking this marriage struggles theme.

You can only surprise drop an album so many times until it becomes stale. Plus wasn't it only released on Tidal at first?

Beyoncé fans want Beyoncé to sing, which she didn’t really. Jay fans wants more Jay which they didn’t get. On top of that, in terms of subject matter it is lighter and not as essential as Lemonade or 4:44. I like the album a lot, but it doesn’t generate a whole lot of conversation because it’s *mostly* just about their strength as a couple with a little nuance in there meanwhile the individual projects were chock full of nuance and double meanings. Unless you really like the music, there’s not a whole lot demanding replay the way Lemonade and 4:44 do.

However, I’d also argue that they don’t really care. They seem to be doing just fine and it read more like a fun project than something huge and necessary. It’s their victory lap.
