FinnishGypsy 921
She’s a decade into her career, and has been the #1 artist on iTunes Global Digital Ranking for over a month (although now she’s in 2nd since finally someone—Queen—managed to pull ahead after her 33 day reign or whatever it was). And Variety just released an article about how Gaga is one of three women expected to nab the academy award for best actress. Critical acclaim galore and tons of commercial success; I’d say she’s doing pretty phenomenally.
Judas Society 3,584
I think you're seeing Gaga as more of an image instead of a person. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean that she shouldn't promote her music or her work. But I think after being the queen of marketing, she has seen the worst sides of society. 1)Fans constantly threaten to cut themselves just to get Gaga's attention (I've seen it on LM.com) 2)The public getting tired of all things Gaga (which Taylor has learned how to step back from being so public, evidently telling Kanye that she was at risk of exposure). Thus causing the media to think of her in a negative way. 3)She got sick and her mental health got worse from overworking due to demands from money making machines (troy) Now, I do agree that she needs some people who isn't afraid of giving her advice instead of being "yaaaas Gaga". But it doesn't mean she has to be everywhere now.
Chickens in Malibu 7,873
TV Performances aren't important right now. Just look at Adele and Taylor. They haven't performed in a while.
Lazz Monster 19,353
Well, imo, I don't think Gaga wants to have that success she had with TF/TFM/beginning of BTW again. During ARTPOP era, the GP and the media were totally against Gaga and, that negativity plus her team not caring about her well-being and only about money (I think they had expectations for ARTPOP that were not met, which probably increased the negativity in her work environment), probably were the reason why her fibro and PTSD got so bad. I don't think she wants to go through that all over again, even now that her team cares about her, she is probably afraid that if reaches the top again, that will change. I mean, this is all conjecture in my part and I may be completely wrong, but i would not be surprised if she is happy with things the way they are, being successful enough so that her label agrees to let Gaga call all the shots, releasing what she wants, not caring if it's GP-friendly or not. I mean, she already has way more money than she needs, if you were her, with that traumatic experience, would you risk it happening again just for more money/fame? I know I wouldn't We're far from the Shallow now

Anderson123 38,715
I don't know about you guys but I feel like she's happy now that she has more control of her career with Bobby than she did back when she was "On top of everywhere" during The Fame -> Born This Way. I personally love the way she handles things right now since 2014. The whole Cheek To Cheek, Oscar tributes, Superbowl, Joanne, A Star Is Born, etc. she keeps surprising me every day with her ideas and her talent. Sure, I still love Born This Way and it's my favorite album but she has evolved so much and not a lot of artists take these risks.

People our age are basically the first young generation that was introduced to social media. When it comes to social media these days, I'm burnt out, and I'm "over it." I've deleted most of my social media accounts, and I don't miss it at all. Many people our age are doing the same thing, from what I've seen. Maybe Gaga is just "over it" when it comes to most social media these days, and I don't blame her! Let her keep doing whatever the eff she wants. I am the same. I'm 2 years younger than Gaga and not as attached to social media as the younger generation are. They grew up with it so it's a big part of their life. Whereas most people around our age didn't have their first cell phone until they were almost ready to graduate from high school.

It all used to be cool and now its turned into a messy free for all and I'm glad shes not as into it as she once was. She still reaches out and she does so just enough. It nearly ruined her to try and reach out to every single person because thats the kind of human she is. I respect her for backing off. The fact that this is even arguable perfectly describes why she has done what she has done. To he honest, I enjoy twitter because it's easy to control but FB has gotten way tired and I'm about to delete mine if I can figure out how. Ya know something isnt good when its tricky and difficult on their end to remove yourself from it. Good to see another old person here. Lol. Bel Esprit 669
I think her three biggest "mistakes" are Judas, Applause and Perfect Illusion as single choices. Almost everyone in middle America unstanned after Judas, its chart run wasn't disastrous, but it was underwhelming following a huge smash, TEOG or Hair would've been a better second single. I know Judas smashed in Europe, but it along with Gaga's satanic image was a part of what caused the eventual ARTPOP downfall, but releasing applause, an unrelatable, slightly underwhelming track wasn't a good way to reintroduce yourself to radio after over two years. I know some people defend the Applause choice, but the more people I talk to the more I realize the gp wasn't wowed by this song, a solo dwuw would've been a great lead, even Aura or Sexxx Dreams could've been a club hit or controversy starter that drew more interest in the album. Finally, Perfect Illusion, Gaga's worst performing lead. The song was just completely wrong as a radio single. I think Million Reasons, or even Diamond Heart would've been better leads. Idk I'm hoping LG6 lead is a bold choice, it worked for Shallow. I think even if say Aura and Million Reasons underperformed, they still would be remembered and would've drawn a more positive response overall. Chuckles 2,549
I don't agree with the single promos AT ALL: she did radio tours, dive bar tour, multiple performance across the world. I do agree in music video quality-wise but you need to understand this was the aesthetic for the Joanne era... Finally, social media: those numbers mean shyte when you are being nominated for Oscars sis. I rather her go viral for her speeches and her positive messages rather than seeing the clap backs or the occassional unnecessary replies. She updates her instagram regularly and tweets out of kindness. I think there's nothing that can be improved there...
