I became a fan of Lady Gaga in 2014. Since then, I, of course, discovered the great song that is Princess Die. And I also heard this rumour that Lana Del Rey was at one point supposedly featured on the track, and I also heard that Gaga made up that rumour by herself. I'd like to know from fans who were fans at that time: is it actually true that it's Gaga herself who started the rumour? I keep finding articles "quoting" Gaga, but I can't find the original source. Thank you! Sorry if unclear, I'm drunk again.

Some say Gaga said it in the Gagadaily chat, some say it didn't happened at all.

that was a fake account, some fans who were in the chat that day went to social media to confirm they just had the same profile, no real account

A fan started that and it kinda just kept on a life of its own. Princess die was written from her own depression/pain during the Btwb and the title is an ode to princess diana. Wish I could listen to a studio version of the song, it’s so hauntingly beautiful.

Gaga started making Princess Die in 2011, before the BTWB. She played it for a Vogue interviewer. :vegas:

Spoiler

“In an interview with Vanity Fair for the January 2012 issue, it was revealed that Gaga was working on a song inspired by Princess Diana. The interviewer described Gaga playing an acoustic version of the song during the interview: "Gaga went to the piano to play us a new song she was working on about Princess Diana--a song about fame and celebrity death. Even in its rough stages, it has her trademark catchy chorus, and she sang the sad slightly bitter lyrics in full voice."
