I go the other way ...there are artists I like "personally" but dont care for their music. Katy Perry is an example but I try to like her stuff. She has 3 songs I like so that's something. Lol

Do they have to be alive?

If not David Bowie (No disrespect for the dead but it would be hard to find someone more pretentious than him)

But other than him - Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Demi Lovato.

I think Madonna is too bitchy sometimes but I don't know if I really dislike her for it. I dislike that part of her.

I think Gaga can get too pretentious sometimes but again I don't really dislike her for it. I know this is GagaDaily but please don't drag me:selena:

Can I ask a question? I'm not trying to be rude at all but years ago the first time I saw the word "pretentious" was during the ARTPOP era. Ever since I've mainly seen it's usually thrown around to describe any artist who is trying to go outside a box, be different, be artistic. Why are people always throwing that word around acting as if people are trying to seem better than them (Using a simplified version of the definition) just because they want to do something different/artistic/outside the box, sorry I've ALWAYS found it to be one of the stupidest things ever and as an artist myself it irritates the **** out of me.

Mariah Carey - stunning voice and amazing songwriter but that diva personality ruins it for me.

David Bowie - He came across as rude and sanctimonious at times.

I think that word is used to describe somebody who isn't being authentic or true to themselves, and only doing certain things to show off or appear better/different to others.

I think Gaga was called pretentious during the ARTPOP era because she seemed like she was trying to force something (whatever you want to apply that to) instead of allowing it to be something that happened naturally.

For example, that interview everybody hates or pokes fun of where she pauses for too long when answering a question. Was that an authentic reaction or was it all for show?

Seems like she was tired from not getting any sleep doing the Robert Wilson portraits for 24 hours and when you haven't slept for some people thoughts don't come instantly, especially ones that are complex. That's what I always figured, she was tired and had to think about it.

I think you could be right.

Btw, I don't think she was being pretentious but I know alot of other people have called her that based on that video so that's why I used that as an example.
