In Florida, we voted to end off shore drilling, end dog racing, and we got rid of an old Jim Crow law by reinstating the voting rights of 1.5 million felons (who've already served their time). It sounds racist to say it, even though it's backed up by pure statistics, but that's a lot more minority votes in 2020 which means Florida might not f*ck up next time. Yeah, we basically have two competing factions of libertarians - the 'kooky unrealistic' ones and the 'normal realistic' ones. Insofar as they both remain in one party then there's likely not going to be much progress for them as a party, although they are pretty good as far as a 3rd party goes. With Gary Johnson the party did pretty well in 2012 (more than all other third parties combined), and 2016 saw 3.27% of the national vote, which is the most of any 3rd party since 1996. The party is slowly growing but the climate now now requires different priorities for the american voter than sticking to libertarian guns.
